If you have made a Mastermind when you were a subscriber and you go F2P you can still used the MM provided you've unlocked that character slot. Free members get 2 slot unlocks by default, member who had subs probably will get more.
If you have enough Veteran Time banked you can unlock a lot more of the game features. I know people who were 6 year vets, who have most of the game unlocked. They can't do endgame and they have to buy the signature arcs but they can do pretty much everything else.
Having to buy slot unlocks is a pain to reuse old characters. Basically, they've changed VIP to "renting" 12+ slots per server per month.
Between this and the Champions Online F2P, I prefer this system to Champions Online.
I think Arachnos probably "regulates" the Superdine traffic in pretty heavily. I do know the Marcones are the Civilian governors of Port Oaks, but I have a feeling Arachons only allows the trafficking of Superdine to Paragon and shuts down any local distribution to prevent Troll outbreaks.
I do know the Praetorians-version "Fixadine" is an improved version of "Superdine", it turns them red but they don't have IQ loss and it doesn't mutate people into Trolls.
Julius the Troll is an aberration. He's a Troll who didn't get the super-strength of Superdine, but he also didn't suffer IQ loss however it still transformed him.
I remember reading somewhere in the lore that turning into a Troll basically turns them genderless, not just sterile. So the troll you are fighting could have been a male or female at one point. I remember this bit of trivia because I once team with a Villain that was a female troll. Her backstory was she was a high school/college swimmer who turned to Superdine the same way athletes sometimes use steroids. I thought "Why don't we see female Trolls in-game?", afterward I found in the lore it was because they all mutate into the "standard Troll"
Voted City of Villains. I managed to play a little of the City of Heroes Freedom Beta and it's an impressive beast. The game has changed a lot over the years so if you want a "I don't remember it being like this!" Experience. I'd go with City.
Interesting to note: Succubi and Hellfrost Demons are only found in the Rogue Isles.
Kheldian Police Bosses are a real PITA, they have the Kheldian Tanking form, Photon Seekers (Exploding pets), and a Self-Rez. You basically have to beat them twice. In a group that's fairly easy, but soloing them is not fun.
In the normal game, there aren't any level 50 Hellions. Usually by that point you're fighting Carnies and Circle of Thorns in terms of magic bad guys.
Technically, you could create a customized character that resembled a Hellion with Fire-based powers that a normal level 50 character could use.
The way it's presented in the lore is the low level gangs are the "street teams" for higher level groups. Hellions tend to give way to groups like the Tsoo and the Banished Pantheon while the Skulls give way to the Trolls and the Family.
Listening to some of the Art threads on the forums it's quite possible Sister Psyche might get a costume reboot.
I agree with those that say it will be BABs. The other seven have Task Forces and the zone BAB is a trainer in is going away. I can see them offing one of the other 7 and replacing them with BAB. It would require rewriting the TF.
Although they could pull a "Statesman". Statesman wasn't in the game until the STF, the only time he appeared was during the Maria Jenkins arc where you went to "Rescue" him from Tyrant. So it could be possible they off one of the other 7 and leave the Task Force intact.
Assuming 200 hours of content per class @ $15/month with a $60 box price that equals about 14 months worth of gameplay, with about $34 per class/character.
So basically you're playing 8 $34 games with 200 hours of gameplay each. Considering what a lot of console titles offer for $60 that isn't bad.
Anything beyond that is due to socialization, PVP, and endgame gear grind/
YMMV, anything that brings down the time to play the game also drives down the subscription costs. The Box Cost of the client also depreciates rather quickly.
From what I understand from some of the Dev Posts in the Forums is that if you've previously purchased Going Rogue, you'll still have access to it if you go "F2P"/non-VIP.
Depending on what you want out of the game it might even be possible to purchase enough slots for your active characters, get the required channel access and not have to worry about paying for the sub fees.
Until we actually see what we can and can't buy from the store it's hard to say what going from a VIP to Premium will actually look like after purchasing all of the one-time costs.
