O.k. Jef, I'm going to resist the urge to blast on your opinions about SWTOR, Star Wars in general, Bioware, Mass Effect (It's not just an adult Star Wars, it's so much more than that) and story mechanics in MMOs. You are so off base on many of your statements. Instead, I'm going to take the rare step of focusing on the things I agree with you on. I love Mass Effect. I would love to see a Mass Effect MMO. I do think it needs to be different from SWTOR. The game play needs to be a 3rd person shooter with cover mechanics like the SP game. It also needs to be a bit more (I can't believe I'm saying this) sand-boxy than SWTOR. It they can somehow combine good story, sand box elements, and ME3 gameplay., I think it would be cool. I don't know if they can do it, but I would like to see them try.
Another article about TOR that is full of hate comments. To those of you who have actually played TOR and hated it; move on. Its one thing to post very specific reasons why you didn't like the game (lag on Illium, my personal pet peeve), its another to post generic hate comments that are nothing but rage, that can be found on any MMO ever released (this game sux and wasn't ready for release. It will fail!).
I've played many MMOs since I left SWG and for various reasons, none of them have kept me playing longer than a few months. When Massively posts articles about those games, I rarely read them and I certainly don't rage post about how much I hate that game and how no one should play them. Some of those games were bad, but none of them screwed me so bad that I was willing to crusade against them. It's a waist of time and energy IMHO. I have moved on.
To those of you who are on the fence about buying this game... Don't listen to me nor the negative commenters. Listen to someone you trust who shares your likes and dislikes in games. Otherwise, just try it yourself and make your own judgement. I hope you like it, but if you don't, move on. There are plenty of other offerings out there and yet to come.
This troll war is getting ridiculous and I honestly apologize for letting my emotions get the better of me and feeding into it. That's all I have to say.
People who can't adequately back up their positions resort to name calling as you have done several times already. That only makes you look worse, not better.
If TOR fails, I'll eat crow and admit it, will you?
Sales figures are not propaganda. Wall Street projections are not propaganda. EA is required to provide accurate information to their investors. To do otherwise is illegal. Could their success wain a year from now? Sure. Neither you nor I can predict the future with any kind of accuracy. The fact is the game has had a successful launch and is not currently in any danger. Money speaks louder than internet rants. PERIOD!
