When I was a kid a few decades ago, my mother would refer to any activity at the computer as "playing with the computer", even if I was doing school homework or learning a programming language. But if you are logged in WoW and interacting with the game world then you are indeed playing the game, there is really no way around that simple fact.
If the ingame feedback and bug tool would not be bugged I'm sure they would receive more constructive feedback. When going to the forums with the intend to report a bug or give feedback, I do a search first before posting and in 99% of the cases the same was posted already, so I refrain from posting. In the cases I have unique feedback on something I don't want to post on the forums either, as I am not interested other players opinions or even trolling attempts.
There are a lot of abbreviations that are fine, and most of them were established well before the development of the 2nd generation MMOs, like EQ2 and WoW even started. From personal experience some of those are: lol, rofl, brb, gtg, inc, add, thx, rdy
What I do not like are things like: u, cu, yw, ty, m8, idd. And mixing numbers and letters and leet speak in general, unless it is used to make fun of it, just makes me disregard what the offender might have to say.
I was very surprised, when coming to WoW from EQ2, that the general player base seemed to be extremely jaded by the use of "lol": I guess that's because it is so extremely overused by the particular large number of immature players in WoW?
