ArenaNet expands on microtransactions in Guild Wars 2

Mar 20th 2012 3:14PM (Massively)
@Kave How wll this not allow you to buy uber gear? They have player transactions and an auction house. Hmm, I don't want to do hard content so I'll buy a pile of gems with real money, sell them for in game credits and buy all my EPIXXes off the auction house.

Bad idea.

@valdi313 Umm, they're not putting the titles in to differentiate different types of gameplay during the video, they're purely splashes to illustrate the kind of experiences you can have while playing...

@Janitor I had the same problem, I levelled to 50 and took my time, but still couldn't get groups for Flashpoints.

The other problem with the 4 hours play time, is that's 2 hours playtime, and 2 hours loading textures from their remote server.

@Graill440
What restrictions? You can play from level 1 to level 50 without any restrictions, you can participate in everything the game has to offer and see all the content - without being gimped.

It does say:

"... the game will also expose players to combat on land and at sea."

What I like most is that it's a free to play game that has given me many months of massively fun games that are never ever the same. I might see the same map a dozen times in a night, but it never plays out the same way.

I went back to try it again, but the controls... they're so damn clunky, and trying to map them to my controller was a complete nightmare. After about an hour of trying to drive with mouse and keyboard, then another hour of trying to get the controller configured, I gave up. With a decent support for either, it might be fun, but til there is, I won't bother again.
