Final Fantasy XI only $11 at GameStop until May 3

Apr 29th 2010 12:04PM (Joystiq)
What's hilarious is all of the people who claim they are just waiting for FF14 as the reason they won't play FF11. Or that "FF14 is going to be much better" than FF11 in terms of mechanics.

If you don't like the mechanics of 11, you won't like 14.....period. Ask anyone playing the alpha, they will tell you that the game is FF11's bigger, badder brother. So if you hate menu driven combat initiatives....bad news....14 is not your savior. If you hate long, tedious leveling and a game that makes you earn everything over long periods of time.....14 is not for you.

I look forward to all those that are joining Eorzea but will tell you that more than half will quit simply because of the feel. It's not WoW and it's not trying to be.

The breakdown of Final Fantasy XI's VanaFest 2010 announcements

The level cap increase is GREAT for their existing players, but a nightmare for people like me who just returned to the game and had to start over. It was disappointing to hear the increase in level and an increase in focus on endgame events. One thing that Blizzard has mastered in the MMO genre that SE never will is the ability to cater to everyone on some level.

Now, if they come back and say they are going to double or triple xp for low level players in order to catch them up to the rest of the player base them I'm all on board.

But as of right now, I'm level 26 and just trying to complete Nation missions as well unlock various jobs. Adding 24 extra levels onto my climb on a game that is already sparse on people is a bad thing.

This may reinvigorate the game for people at level 75, but they've pretty much guaranteed that they won't gain many new subscribers.

At least someone has some sanity in this thread. Thanks for the great post!

BlizzCon 2010: Las Vegas Convention Center retracts statements

I don't know why anyone would be against having this thing in Las Vegas. Has anyone actually done their homework on this thing? As it stands now, Anaheim Convention Center has 815,000 square feet of exhibition space. How fast have the tickets been selling out the past few years? How much headache has this caused Blizzard with the crashing of the website and all the upset people that don't get tickets?

Las Vegas Convention Center contains 3.2 million square feet of exhibition space. That's THREE TIMES LARGER than the Anaheim venue. This means more space for more people which means less frustration in getting tickets and an even BIGGER, BETTER Blizzcon.

I'm all for them going to Las Vegas.

There is your new Frost Build and all about how it is the new "disease-less" spec considering you won't have to cast IT or PS.

Enjoy my fellow Frost DKs.

Breakfast Topic: Are you ready for Season 5?

The only people I know looking forward to Arenas are DPS classes and specs. If you are a healer, I'm sure you've been doing BGs and Wintergrasp and literally CRYING at how fast we are getting taken down by unfiltered burst damage.

I already knew from past articles that Zach is not exactly playing a "healing" role in Arenas. I would really appreciate it Mr. Yonzon if you could do an article about how PVP at the moment is dominated by which DPS can do the most burst damage. Healing through it isn't even on the table and anyone who suggests otherwise is either completely ignorant of the situation or lying to themselves. Oh wait........don't you play a Retribution Paladin? Why rock the boat, eh?

Authenticators are going out, via USPS

Jul 9th 2008 4:26PM (WoW)
I ordered mine on Monday morning(June 30th). I received an email July 1st informing me that my order would ship in 2-3 days. July 3rd I logged into my Blizzard store account to see if it had shipped only to find that the entire amount of my order had been refunded to me.

I checked my email and there was nothing from Blizzard. I tried to call but waited on hold for over an hour or the line was busy. When I clicked on my order it took me to a screen that said "Error". I finally emailed them and received a response about five minutes ago that said(and I'm paraphrasing) "Ooops our fault for listing it as available when you ordered. We can't fill it cause we don't have anymore. Our bad. Oh and by the way, we could care less that you were inconvenienced."

Of course this was put the nicest way possible with a polite curtsy. This whole situation with the Authenticator has been upsetting to say the least. I'll probably just avoid buying one now.
