Everyone I know who played WoW has gone now. My longtime social-raiding guild is falling apart with even the last of the die-hards finishing up and canceling their subs. I'm the last one left in the building, waiting out the weekend to see what Blizz can scrape together for their next expansion to see if I should just turn the lights out and lock up once and for all.
With Fluid Death and Essence of the Cyclone currently equipped I ran the brewfest trinket through femaledwarf, only to find despite being high ilvl its a dps loss in either slot :(
Probably. But Blizzard have proven to be exceptionally good at pushing players into their new devices/content regardless of if they actually want to be there. Making raiders grind old dungeons every week to keep their raiding gear current by having to use the LFD tool is one example. Making dedicated PvP'ers play rated BG's to keep their conquest gear current is another. If they allowed people to continue to buy their tier by grinding dungeons, they risk the raid finder being mostly empty (apart from the usual group of dps-only DK's and cloth wearing hunters). This way alot of dungeon runners that want some tier gear are going to have no choice but throw themselves into this new meat grinder.
A) Threat changes have nothing to do with survivability. "Pulling a whole group" can still wipe you if the tank or healer are not geared appropriately. B) We are 2 raid tiers past these heroics now; what did you think was going to happen at this point? C) Making dungeons harder only proved 1 thing: the average dps still expects the tank and healer to handle most of the responsibility. Hence why tanks made a mass exit from the dungeon finder when they realised they were the only one doing any interupts, the first to be blamed for wipes, and in really bad groups also top of the damage meter. All of which led to 2 hour dungeon runs preceded by 30min queues.
Harder content does not mean better players. It means less players who are willing and capable of stepping up to take that responsibility.
Congrats! You've just worked out that threat in a raid environment was a non-issue ever since they introduced Vengeance. This change was clearly intended for dungeon running tanks who might be grouped with severely overgeared dps. Great contribution to the discussion though!
