@kgptzac I know at least the motorola Atrix has it. I think there is another, aslo the xoom tablet. I m holding out for an htc phone with it.

I am glad this isn't just for iOS. Those phones suck compared to androids. Apple is usually last to the party when it comes to hardware. imo imo imo :)

Enter at Your Own Rift: Zero-sum game

@Graill440 \

idk. I am not trying to be an appologist or fanboy, but I see arguements that the soul system is broken for PVP because their are a few PVP specs that really shine a lot, and I am just not seeing this as a problem.

Not saying that some souls and specs are far better than others for PVP, that is for sure, but I don't think that this is a major fault specifically for the soul system. You see, that arguement can be said for any talent based MMO where you can chose your abilities. WoW has this problem, EQ2 has this problem, I am guessing that AOC has this problem. WAR certainly had some poor options for PVP specs, but there were so few options it was hard to notice.

The beauty of the Rift's system is that there are sooo many choices, I think the amount of IWIN buttons are larger, and given that you can change between your PVE and PVP specs on the fly with little grind investment to set up, totaly saves the the pidgeon-holeing that you would have in the other games. RIFT also has PVP specific soul trees which I am guessing everyone is going to be using, and therefore the higher end pvp will be easier to be balanced. I am just guessing I haven't really invested a lot of time in the game.

I also see this arguement a lot in other game forums, and see it totaly discredited while playing the game. Yeah sure some specs are just purely PVE, but I have seen others really take an non IWIN spec and change their playstyle so much from what others are doing or expecting that they come out on top. That goes for entire classes that are supposed to be OP or gimp as well.

There is some truth to it, and things always are going to need balance, but you can't expect every spec to be equal for every job. The fact that we have so many choices with RIFT, and the ability to have 4 competely different specs per character to change on the fly, Rift actually minimizes the problem that is intrensic to all skill based MMOs with some level of complexity to their systems.

...or so it seems to me :)

Does not feel like W:AR. Not at all. It has the same graphics engine, but it looks better and seems to run a lot better. About the only similarity. Well and the public grouping aspect, but the rifts are way better than the stupid PQs that you wait around for like a crappy fair ride . The rifts for me are a minor part of a larger and better game than WAR.

It is almost unfortunate that the game is called Rift. I think it is creating some unnecessary disappointment out there. Maybe if they called it "Rift Awesome Dungeon Great Class System Fun PVP: Online" 80% of the criticism would vanish, leaving the valid 20% that any new game should garner.

I would play a flying villain, controlling my enemies and victims with my mental powers. Whirling a staff, and aiding my villainous allies with my mind control and torturing powers. I would also amplify the powers available to my evil cohorts with my energy giving abilities.

The Daily Grind: How do you like your PvP?

Dec 21st 2010 2:09PM (Massively)
I love PVP where there there are unfair advantages. There is no greater thrill than beating a higher level or better geared player. More than once so you everyone knows it wasn't a fluke, preferably.

Hate arenas. Idk why I just don't like them. World PVP for me.

Least favorite is high stakes PVP, simply because it makes people avoid it unless there is absolutely no chance of losing. EVE was the worst example of this for me. I spent hours looking for some fun sparing, but I would either find impossible odds, or people would absolutely avoiding fighting. I did get to try a bit of pvp in the Factional stuff they added, but it was usually a giant lagged slide show with the final slide being one of my new pod in a station.

DCUO looks promising :D

Whether you think that the game is worth money is up to you, the price itself compared to the price of other games is what it is. A lower than average monthly fee, OR a pay buy the hour option which is a new thing for western mmos, as far as I am aware of. I could stretch that 20 hours out for weeks myself. This is why it is good for me, why do I want to pay 14.99 or some such amount for a few hours of gaming a month.

It is simple to me. The current lower amount of content is ok for me too, as I only play a few hours a month.

And I work for myself, probably why I don't have a lot of time to play games. Take off the tinfoil.
