Totem Talk: Resto shaman healing in Blackrock Caverns

Dec 28th 2010 2:49PM (WoW)
Did this heroic last night, and on Corla we just managed the beams and never had to deal with an add (wait to ~80, step out and let it drop, then back in before the adept got to 100). Also, on Beauty, we just CC'd the adds (Hex worked fine) - given we had a Shammy (myself), a Mage (poly) and a hunter (trap) - but by maintaining the CC, we were able to avoid dealing with any of the adds.

"Unveal".... really? Are they taking all the young cattle out of the game?

Joshua Hong continues pursuit of Governor's seat

Apr 23rd 2010 12:00PM (Massively)
"Joshua is devoted to invest in Telecom and build out California's infrastructure to reflect our position in the global economy"

...and he's going to do this without being able to raise property taxes.... how? Still, California has shown they have no common sense when voting on policy or for public office so I wouldn't be surprised if this guy or some random porn star wins the election.

Infinity Ward holdouts to receive extra helping of bonuses, says Activision's Amrich

So, while they're "not" holding the bonuses, I guess they're also "not" receiving interest on that giant stack of cash...

WAR Executive Producer pens apology for account errors

Gee, a 100% XP bonus... I'm sure that will make everything all-better with the users who couldn't pay their bills during the whole thing. Seems to me a better idea would have been a couple months (or year for some of the more extreme cases) pre-paid. Regardless, there's not a whole lot you can do once you've fubar'd this bad.

Taris announced for Star Wars: The Old Republic

@yep - I understand your frustration, but let's also not forget that STO was made by Cryptic, who have shown no capability of acting like a responsible or quality dev (until recently, and the votes are still out on that)... whereas TOR is being published by one of the most respected RPG / Game developers out there right now - BioWare.

With Cryptic, you have Champs Online as their 'resume'. With BioWare, you have Mass Effect 1 and 2, Dragon Age Online, KOTOR, NWN, and Baldurs Gate (and MDK II iirc). I'm not saying it's a sure thing, but I have a LOT of confidence in Bioware, and I'm pretty sure Blizzard is keeping a keen eye on them because they could make quite a dent if they pull it off right.

Interesting side note - I was discussing it with friends the other day, and a paradox occurred to me - where most studios have rushed production so they can recap their investments or try to meet Blizz on the same launch dates, by taking their time and polishing the game, TOR may be positioned to hit at a key point where many players are losing the love for the game, and Blizz's very clear use of their "B-team" to manage the last xpac and customer service lately has only cause more discontentment. PLEASE Bioware, get this right!

The high cost of rez sickness

May 16th 2009 12:16AM (WoW)
Pleeease... if you want to know what death cost is, try EVE Online. Try losing a 100mil ISK Mining Barge to a suicide ganker then talk to me about the minor inconvenience of a 10min debuff and some gold in repair bills (which now with dual spec is rubber-helmet easy to farm)

The Queue: Locke

I understand one's desire to play the game their own way, and yes that is your prerogative. However, if you are talking in the context of a 25-man raid, then you shouldn't be surprised if a veteran player is offering tips to help you maximize your DPS, 2-3k is really kinda meh for Ulduar and if you're stubborn and / or obstinate about taking advice don't be suprised if your spot gets filled with a rookie that IS willing to take that advice. Many times players don't understand the math or the hows-and-whys of full-DPS specs and that lack in output can at times really hurt the overall performance of the raid. Why waste space with a sub-par DPS when you can fill it with someone who knows their rotation and is spec'd for melting faces? Sure, play the game your own way but when you step into a raid it becomes less about you and more about the group.
