The Daily Grind: What's your favorite in-game wildlife?

Jul 23rd 2011 1:06PM (Massively)
Hmm. Wisps from EQ are definitely up there... funded much of my early crafting career harvesting Greater Light Stones.

The best wildlife was in REALLY early (beta3) SWG... running through the "miles-and-miles of miles-and-miles" of the back country you'd occasionally run across preditors stalking a herd of herbivores, or find yourself being stalked by something nasty that would hover right at the edge of your radar until you stood still too long or engaged another target.

The Daily Grind: Which MMO has the best PvP?

DAOC still wins overall -- if only for the ever-dynamic 3-way slugfest.

WAR is technically superior in a lot of ways... and if it had shipped in its current state, we wouldn't even be having this poll. ;)

As an interesting side-effect of EQ2 and LotRO going F2P, I was able to renew my subscription to WAR. (I don't mind paying one monthly sub, but I refuse to pay multiple ones.)

They HAVE done a lot of work on that game, haven't they? =)

LOTRO bored me. EQ2 doesn't. And I wish SOE was paying me for this endorsement. ;)

The Daily Grind: Are you a leader or follower?

3rd option. Loner. I like having other people around. Really, I do. As long as I don't actually have to talk to 'em and they ain't breathin' too much o' my air.

Ask Massively: Switchover edition

No. Silver is a one-time unlock. If you drop your Gold subscription, you go back to your previous status-Bronze or Silver.

I'd ask why anyone would think otherwise, but I realize that cynical is the in-thing. ;)

Of course, one of the reasons that the "pure" healers are few and far between at T4 is because they just aren't as much fun to play. They're very vanilla, with a single "optimal" playstyle. That was the paradigm that Mythic was trying to shift with the different healer mechanics.

RP's and Zealots are still less oriented toward damage dealing than the melee or caster healers... who NEED to alternate offense and defense... but this does allow for more flexibility to their playstyles. I'd like to see how it works out.

Yeah, I'm thinking Call of Cthulhu. (And for the record, I'm still enjoying CO and STO. )

The Daily Grind: What game has generated the strongest feelings for you?

Dec 5th 2009 3:25PM (Massively)
Everquest on Tallon Zek (Team PvP). I don't think I've ever been quite that invested in a doomed project before. ;) The early days were glorious... but by the second expansion the race war game that I'd been playing was completely eclipsed by the raid grind, and the small family guild I'd been a part of was gone.

I think because of all that, I intentionally limit my emotional investment in MMO's. SWG's NGE was upsetting, but I was able to walk away with a minimum of angst.
