I am a programmer but hate all the hardware level stuff. If my parents or friends call and ask whats wrong with their PCs I tell'em that i dont know and that they should use google to figure it out.
But somehow i always end up doing google by my self and fixing all those damn things. So I guess I know my way around - tho I still hate it, i realy do! If my PC is broken (very rare, cause I dont buy shit, but ask a friendly hardware geek to build and tune me a config) I give it to the service center. :p
craig and the AoC community talk about different kinds of success. True AoC make money and dont need to be shut down yet. Thats anoth for business ppl like craig (who happens to call him self game designer *sigh*).
As a gamer I dont care about business. I have diferent standards. As a gamer successful game is one that is 1) fun and 2) live up to his potentials, and realising a vision. and dont make me feel sick in my stomach
Neither AoC nor STO are successful games in this respect. Both, while making money fail to fulfill the potential. I play em and find my self saying too often "man that sux why i cant...?" Of course this kind of success is subjectiv, but that dosnt make it matter less.
And than of course there is this hugh scam funcom pulled of with AoC. You cant screw your fans and ask to get free hugs for it. Noway. No f**** way.
(note: this was one of the most hard raids in AO before Shadowland - the tank crew lost aggro and the vid showing oner of the (dono 4 bosses?) going wild on the backline)
A new ground map and fleet actions - this shows that cryptic do not understand the core concept of "content" in an MMO. For me, content is new gameplay - not more of the same in diferent color.
Remember the old days? When an expansion used to add new continents, new classes, TONS of new items and TONS of new storylines into the game?
"Common Ground" sounds more like an emergency patch in relation!
Funcom always had great artists (esp. musicans) and the worst programmers. TSW won't be different, because AoC showed that the company is unable to learn from theire failures.
