The Daily Grind: When MMOs die

Aug 4th 2009 10:01AM (Massively)
I met my boyfriend of eight years on Phantasy Star Online for the Dreamcast. (I know most people don't consider PSO an MMO but in my mind if Guild Wars counts than so does PSO >__>)
By the time the servers closed we had already moved on but it was still sad hearing about it. I guess a bit similar to what it must feel like if two people met for the first time at a restaurant and then the building gets torn down. :(

The Daily Grind: What are your top 5 MMO must-haves?

Jul 30th 2009 10:03AM (Massively)
1) Worthwhile group PvP (meaning it has objectives and rewards worth the effort) preferably Guild based PvP

2) Character customization (physical appearance)

3) Character customization (customize stats/skills etc.)

4) Ability to Solo (I'm not saying that I want to solo the whole game but it's nice to be able to sit back and level when you want to without having to wait for a party)

5) Attractive Graphics (I don't care how many polys it has, I would rather it be stylized graphics than hideous character models like EQ2 or DDO)

WoW, Casually: Playing with your reading-age child

Jul 29th 2009 8:01PM (WoW)
I still feel that parents should be playing an age appropriate game with their child. There are tons of great educational game software. Yes your kids can't understand all of that typing on the screen but think of it this way,
do you want your child's early written exposure to be "lol ya i kno! i h8 this quest!"
or proper spelling and grammar through a learning game?

Kids take in everything they see!

Choose my Adventure: Goodbye, Tyria

I hope you do Runes of Magic next. I haven't had much time to play it myself so I'm wondering what it's like further into the game. Although the game is very active the forums are not so it's hard to read up on the points of interest.

There's a... er... Twilight MMO coming...

Jul 29th 2009 11:10AM (Massively)
So no one will roll a human or werewolf, it's going to be 99.9% vampires running around a quiet town where nothing is ever supposed to happen

that makes sense?
