I would think "relying on the green dot effect" by using bots to make lots of dots on a parcel on the grid map, whether the bots are exempted from traffic figures or not, logically constitutes using bots to influence traffic by drawing residents to an otherwise vacant parcel. This too should be treated as a ToS violation.
Moe, if you read the policy closer it specifically excludes model bots, which can be exempted from traffic. Issue solved.
I don't think it matters what age verification system LL puts in place; they're all easy to defeat for cheaters. In RL underage people get into adult clubs all the time. However, the reliability and performance of any verification system concerns me; if I go to the trouble to verify (I already did when LL first launched the current system) I expect it to work seamlessly and reliably.
Best of luck with your next adventure and I hope you find the next challenge rewarding both personally and professionally. You will be missed terribly.
My reservations about merging the teen and adult grid are: 1. Having to deal with people's unsupervised kids. People don't supervise their teens at Walmart, imagine how they'll be in SL. And don't lecture me about how many are already in the main grid, that's no answer.
2. Cleaning up "adult content." Define adult content? Whose definition do we use? The American prudish puritanical definition which allows gross violence but cringes at any sex, the European definition which would limit the violence but allow much more intimate content, the South American definition?
3. What content besides "adult content" is inappropriate for teens to view or participate in?
LL had said that the Open Spaces as they were before (being abused) were not supportable and a drain on resources and a money-loser. Shrinking back to a manageable land mass which no longer stresses the system and is once again supportable AND is a source of income is a good thing for LL; they ARE a business so the bottom line is the money. Keep in mind that there's a glut of land both mainland and estate, so a slightly shrinking landmass might bring some value back to the land you/I/we own.
This is why I conduct all my online buying through a pre-paid Visa debit card. They can't access my credit through this card and can only get what little cash I keep on the card to keep it active. When I anticipate a purchase, then, and only then, do I put any substantial (more than $50 USD) amount of money on that card.
It's really odd that user hours are down and it's becoming increasingly difficult to find a crowd of users to interact with, but the concurrency continues to increase even if only slightly. Does anyone have a good explanation for this beyond the usual rants about bots?
I don't do anything out on the grid that anyone would want to watch me do, so that's not a concern. And if anyone wants to "stalk" me, a click on the "mute" button solves their interference (not to mention filing an AR). But I am wondering what kind of exploits surfaced last time (to young on the grid to remember).
I have the same experience as Kara; people wander in to an area, find just a few people there, make a comment about how it's too lonely, too quiet, too dead or not exciting enough, then wander away. The same people then show up in a very busy area during an event and complain about lag. There is a disconnect.
