I was disappointed, but not surprised when I saw TERA;s beta schedule, which leads right into open and launch. It appears En Masse/Bluehole is using closed beta for marketing purposes, since there's no real time to devote to actual close beta feedback prior to launch. Remember way back when closed beta was actually for improving games? I really hope the game had some kick-ass alpha testers and that En Mass/Blue Hole listened to them.
One side note, which I mentioned on Twitter - their Scannertron tool doesn't recognize Nvidia Optimus systems. So, my laptop, which has GeForce GT 525M was identified as having Intel HD (at least on screen - if other data was transmitted, I couldn't see it).
I remember paying $9.89 for EQ and the player outcry when its subscription was raised, too.
For me, $15 seems like a good price point for a subscription, especially considering so many games now offer both subscriptions and a la carte premium content (Sparkle pony?).
The real issue isn't how much am I willing to pay for a single game, though, but how much am I willing to pay for my monthly gaming, in general? Right now my son and I drop $14/month combined for Wizard101 and my wife pays at least $20/month for various facebook games. Add in additional monthly subs for P2P games like SWTOR and it'll add up quickly!
Given that my gaming tastes have diversified and my time as an adult has skewed towards more casual gaming, I've got a bit of gamer-onset ADD and have a hard time sticking with one game/month anyway. That has made F2P games much more attractive to me, even if I pay for premiums.
"How person who talk for quite some time about MMO and get paid for it for a living can say that EQ was first mmo.
*sigh*
Learn your facts before you state them publicly as a Truth."
I would say the same to you. Casey never said EQ was the first MMO. Instead, he referred to Everquest as "the MMO that started it all". That is not the same thing at all as saying it was the first MMO. There's a lot of context in that simple statement that doesn't mean what you think it means literally...
"Everquest, the MMO that started it all" "The 1st MMO"
Casey's statements were entirely correct, IMO. Everquest was the first commercially successful 3D MMO. I remember when other upstart games were vying to be the EQ-killer, much like the mythical WoW-killer people still seek today. EQ was the MMO that started it all. Yes, there were other non-3D MMOs first, but without the success of EQ I think the MMO market would probably have turned out quite differently.
How could the defense possibly argue that the items had no economic value when the defendants physically assaulted somebody in order to acquire said items? If obtaining the items was so important to the defendants that they had to resort to real life violence then there must have been real life value to the items in question unless they were just being griefers.

The first line should be "Everquest, the MMO that started it all" does not equal "The 1st MMO"
