Know the max range of your spells because you need to know when an enemy is within range. To help with this DAOC has a special command that will put an indicator on the ground at a distance set by you. Its detailed here along with how to bind it as a macro: http://vnboards.ign.com/daoc_hibernia_forester_professions/b22839/96352283/r96381871/
For instance CC spells are very important even in the 20-24 BG. Albion's music class holds a flute, Hibernia's a mandolin, but even robed casters are high priority CC targets. Skalds have an insta-cast stun, so having a handy visual of its max range while on the battlefield is key.
Because in this series of articles, the readers are the ones who get to vote on what the writer plays. So since those of us who voted for DAOC get to see someone try out a game he's never played before and we remember fondly, its a pleasure to help him out with tips and tricks that will save him time and make his play sessions that much more enjoyable.
yeah the only BG that matter is 20-30, but also very twink heavy. Follow the questgivers for awhile, do some tasks or find a dungeon so you can gear up. Don't hit RvR until 50, don't do BG until 20.
@Kyniel You know it looks like there are 5 branches to every profession, which is not only better then WoW's, but every profession has a 'support' branch featuring the compassion trait which improves self and others healing. So there will be no one that can be IDd as a 'healer' class still, although I can definately see Warriors as the designated tank now.
All the same, that these traits can be increased via gear makes me even more excited for the in-game economy and general loot drops. Think of how hard it will be to get gear with the exact trait line you are focusing on - either pay a crafter or by it on the AH. Very cool!
lol another huge step backward for LOTRO! PvP only stats that further separate skill from grind and discourages new players the fastest. But wait, act now and you can buy this whole new set of PvP gear in the cash shop!! Did LOTRO just farm out their dev duties to Korea or something?
I don'tr undestand your angst here. When you are defending a keep and attacking an opposing teams siege equipment will you ragequit because you;re not directly attacking another player? Or when you have to kill an NPC guarded supply camp/tower/keep are you going to flame out on the forums as these weren't directly defended by players?
This is exactly how DAOC worked, and it worked perfectly. Its also how WAR worked. And Aion worked in the Abyss.
Honestly just stay in the Battlegrounds since this gameplay style is clearly too cumbersome for you to understand, whereas those who have RvRd and totally recognize a well designed experience can enjoy this without a little less drama-free.
Yea was a little deflated to hear that too. Don't know how big the maps are as "These are the largest maps we can make in Guild Wars 2" isn't really saying much. And if the action is at the central main keep map, will there be tons of players just bouncing off a zone wall line trying to get there once that 100 number is reached?
Although at the same time 100v100v100 in a lag free setting of a fantasy MMO is still really impressive and should be fun. Just being gated out of PvP due to a mechanic will really be frustrating. Balanced of course by the fact that there is no monthly fee, but still frustrating.
