Massively.com secret Twitter giveaway: The Art of Age of Conan

Nov 3rd 2008 7:36PM (Massively)
Strong lines and a clear style. That can range from EQ2 graphics to Kingdom of Loathing line drawings. The key thing, for me, is that it doesn't look blocky and that I can recognise what game it is from a distance. I liked AoC graphics although I'd rank LOTRO above 'em.

EverQuest 2 Game Update 49 goes live

Oct 8th 2008 3:02PM (Massively)
That's twice I've seen the Alla's page described as a walk-through. How is a two-sentence post, telling you where to go to get started, a walk-through?

The rest of the page is about events that are no longer there, unless I'm missing something.

Testing Age of Conan: Gamespot's hardware roundup + performance guide

I did enjoy the guide, once I found it. The article is a bit self-referential link heavy...

Age of Conan patch addresses class balance, Khopshef Province zone

Jun 17th 2008 11:56AM (Massively)
I get asked to log in if I follow your patch note links - which I can't do as I'm not a U.S. user.

I thought it was possible to read the forums, just not to post to them, but I only see two categories: General and Server forums. In the Euro forums I see a third group - Voice of Krom.

Are we blocked from each others dev notes? This is getting sillier and sillier.

Anyway, to save other people time, here's a link that works for people who bought the English language box in Europe:
http://forums-eu.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=45997

I'd ask you to provide both links for patch notes when possible, but I guess you can't see the Euro forum in order to find the link anymore than I can see the US ones....

Petition for the black bar of censorship in Age of Conan

May 31st 2008 5:33PM (Massively)
I don't get the petition. If you don't want people to see your nipples, keep your top on. It's not like the game forces you to strip.

Wear a shirt or jerkin or even a bikini top, as you like. Just like in real life ... or do they want the freedom to go topless with no one else able to see? I don't get it.

Why "Need before Greed" doesn't work

I've been away so fallen behind on discussion but I've had some interesting comments and emails on the subject. Thanks for the link! :)

TurpsterVision: Return of the King

Apr 30th 2008 7:55PM (Massively)

TBH, any review that makes it clear at the start "what I really love is X but I'll try Y anyway..." is a downer from day one. Personally, I don't mind if you don't like EQ2 (or LOTRO or any other game that isn't WoW) but lately it seems like reviews have this disclaimer (not just you) of "obviously I play WoW because it's better, but I tried this game for the sake of it" - personally I'd just as soon you didn't bother reviewing if you've already decided the game you want to play.

More importantly, the email notification for comments gives a link that goes nowhere.

TurpsterVision: Return of the King

I think the point is that the review isn't very useful. And those of us left reading Massively who don't play WoW find it depressing to see repeated references to how good WoW is, "but I will try other games to see what they are like ... for half an hour."

The start-game on WoW is exceedingly quiet, same as the start game on EQ2 and these days LotRO. So the starting point feels unreasonable because you are comparing your memory of playing one game for the first time with the reality of playing a different (equally mature) game for the first time.

Zero punctuation is not really a fair comparison - he makes it clear there is no review of the game, the whole thing is about his ability to pull off a monologue. If that's the intent, then perhaps it needs to be made clearer.

EQ2's Runnyeye gets a revamp!

Apr 30th 2008 3:19PM (Massively)
I had a hard time getting people to go to Nek Tribulation which was a shame: I love revamps! And I love group content as it's a lot easier to spend time there. I practically lived in DFC after it was shifted to a group zone - mainly just trying to work out the mechanics! I still need blood ore, just need an alt at the right level ;)

So yeah, I'm really looking forward to Runnyeye.
