I've heard so many great things about 1Password, that I'd love to try it out, especially after the Gawker password leak, which has reminded me that it would be a good idea to use something like 1Password for a more advanced password management system.

Social browsing with Mozilla Labs F1 -- how RockMelt should've been

Any Chrome extension developer interested in porting this? I tried developing an extension with an iframe (https://f1.mozillamessaging.com/share/), but I've never before developed a Chrome extension so I got stuck. I don't know how to get it to recognize the current url as the one to share (probably using this though: http://src.chromium.org/viewvc/chrome/trunk/src/chrome/common/extensions/docs/tabs.html#method-getSelected ), and it's not quite as elegant as the implementation in Firefox. If anyone knows a bit more about Chrome extensions, maybe they could finish it:

Is there a special url that includes the page to share? (Like https://f1.mozillamessaging.com/share=google.com, or whatever)

TUAW Giveaway: 10 copies of Alarms.app!

Oct 5th 2010 4:07AM (TUAW.com)
I get a lot of PDFs assigned as reading, so I think it would be useful to keep track of course work I read on my computer. I could just drop the PDFs into the schedule in Alarms, and then when it's time I can open the file right from Alarms without having to dig it out of Finder.

I'd love to try out Cashculator for tracking my money. I used to use Mint.com, but I'm in Europe now where it doesn't work.

Dear Aunt TUAW: RSS in the clouds

I definitely recommend Google Reader. My go to feed reader - usually the second website I visit after Gmail. As for apps, I definitely agree with Paul - MobileRSS is an outstanding iPhone/iPod Touch feed reader, and it sync with Google Reader. You can use it offline, and have all your actions sync back to Google Reader - so you'll never have to see the same article twice. I've been using it for over a year, and it keeps getting better with each release.

As for Mac, I use Gruml, as vikking recommended. While you can read feeds offline, the changes don't sync back once you're connected again, but that shouldn't be a problem if you're usually connected to the Internet.

There are tons of other apps that sync with Google Reader, so it's definitely the way to go. Since everything syncs to the central account, you can use different apps and still have everything synced. You'll get used to the web interface too!
