Street Fighter X Tekken review: The Pandorica opens

Mar 12th 2012 11:04PM (Joystiq)
This is the only review that I've read that does not gloss over the game's issues, and it's the only one that dares to be brave enough to hold the game against its peers (that is to say, compare it to other fighting games).

Frankly, it is about damned time that Capcom is taken to task on their failings of game modes, on how they're lagging so far behind the competition and even their terrible UI. It's also refreshing to see the bugs mentioned in a more down to earth way rather than, say, an obligatory rug sweep.

Bravo. We need more reviews like this.

Trek through fire and flame in RIFT's Infernal Dawn raid

@Lenn No. They may be used in some ways, but it's unlikely that you'll see any big announcement about new stuff added specifically for the rifts. You're definitely not going to see any regular releases for them, as you do of their instanced raids.

The rifts are tools in the toolbox. They haven't been the serious focus of the game since beta, and they haven't had any real update since the first two or three months. Even then, it was a meager "crafting rift" addition that didn't get much attention beyond its mention in the patch notes, or at best a few brief comments on MMO sites.

Trion loves to ride on the coat tails of World of Warcraft, claiming that they're different while they do pretty much the exact same thing.

That's not to say that it's a bad game. It was, in the beginning, very very fun. Unfortunately they changed their game's focus early on.

TERA's Poporis wreck face in the most adorable possible way

Nice editing in this one. I actually enjoyed it more than the Elin video.

RIFT celebrates its first year by looking back... and looking beyond

I still say that they should change the name to RAID: Dungeons of Telara. It would actually fit the game play.

Oh, well. I suppose those who are left playing this one are enjoying what's there. More power to ya. I've just always thought it was a shame that they didn't put that development and release effort into Rift increases rather than instanced raid content.

It was such a cool idea. Maybe the instanced raid stuff was just easier and more cost effective to pull off on a regular schedule.

Some Street Fighter X Tekken character DLC may exist on disc, Elena playable via glitch

Mar 5th 2012 8:03AM (Joystiq)
@SilverPR Nothing will change so long as you continue to give them money on products that support this approach to DLC. You've said that you're buying the game anyway, so no matter how many angry comments you leave on an Internet forum, you're still supporting the practice in the only meaningful way that a company understands - with your money.

It's absurdly amusing that capcom thinks that they can erase something from the Internet.

Stay classy, capcom.

TERA reflects on lessons learned from first CBT weekend

Feb 18th 2012 5:46PM (Massively)
Reminds me of our RP server in Rift. We had to line up to comlete that absurd clicky "quest" (terrible thing to call it) for the gold piles, and it broke to the point that only one 'pile' worked.

It's much more effecient to do this than to constantly fight each other.

I have Tera pre-ordered now and it's in the process of downloading megalithic amounts of data. I hope that the combat system is as unique as it seems, but we'll see where it goes I guess.

Marketing zenith reached: Early copies of Mass Effect 3 on weather balloons

high altitude weather balloon + passenger jet engine at 35,000 ft or so + hundreds dead = any publicity is good publicity, right guys?

SSFIV Arcade Edition Ver. 2012 update slated to launch on PC by the end of the month

Feb 16th 2012 2:08PM (Joystiq)
Not only that, but the community had the game patched through modifications very quickly.

I can't agree with Capcom's choices over the last several months. Personally I've moved on to SC5, and with so many other options out there, why wait around for Capcom to take months to release an 18 MB patch?

The Soapbox: TERA's rocky road to release

@Stall I see, that's very helpful Stall. Thanks for the info. I may get the game then, at least to see what it's like for the first month. I've been curious about Tera for quite awhile now.
