I'm looking forward to how the differing land types will affect the development of a city. Since most of the shore/riverside plots will probably be taken quickly when the MMO launches (not unlike certain names in more traditional MMOs), I might try my hand at desert-based city.
Well, with 4th Edition D&D removing the gnome as a playable class, we true gamers need another source for our gnome jones, so a Bling Gnome should do just the trick . . .
I'd settle for some form of user-configurable interface while in space, or even just a faction-based difference between interfaces. This is a massively advanced civilization and yet every single ship looks the same from inside the pod.
Training from Rank 1/Level 4 to Rank 1/Level 5 is probably in the three to three and a half day range for most people who will be flying Tech III ships, so not a terrible loss, all things considered.
Makes you careful with your ship, but the penalty isn't so costly as to make the Tech III ships hangar queens.
My favorite story to date is the two-part guide to setting up the Overview in EVE from a few months back -- I've referred tons of people to it thus far and see it mentioned in the Help channel in-game frequently when people have questions about the Overview.
