Flameseeker Chronicles: Sylvari week wrap-up

Aug 15th 2011 1:34PM (Massively)
I really like most of the lore but the one thing that really gets me is that the race is only 25 years old. maybe they had to use that kind of timescale to fit into the rest of the game but that is basically one generation. so how can you then have race elders or 'luminaries'. i just think it would've been better if maybe they said over the 250 year life of the pale tree there were some that were awakened and that only now in the last 25 years has their been a real swelling of their numbers. something like that would've made it all make more sense i think. but that's the one thing that really bothers me...and the voice acting was bad i agree.

@Ekphrasis

Yes, but you have koalas, doesn't that even it out? I would much rather have a koala than a pre-order for swtor.

RoM is by far the best free to play game around! i love it. there are so many different challenges and monsters to fight that it really keeps me coming back for more.

@C Rose

well said. the more i see of the gameplay the more it makes me think of one word: SAFE. when they're spending as much money as they are on this then they have to play it safe. i would like for the game to be good for RP and have a thriving economy dictated by the players, but my gut tells me i'll play it for a month or two and get bored. which is too bad. Perhaps if the game does do well, then we will see new sci-fi games as opposed to all the fantasy games that have come and gone. and perhaps one of those will be the innovative, niche game that some of us want.

i guess when you spend that much money in production you kinda have to play it safe. maybe after the money starts rolling in they'll be able to innovate in some other way besides just making all the characters say their lines

Rise and Shiny recap: Ashen Empires

this is actually the first MMO i ever played, but i too started when it was called Dransik, back before i ever played EQII or WoW. i loved this game. It had (maybe still does have) a great community of players that were fun to hang out and play with. People put together some fun ingame player run events and stuff too. i wish some new MMO would come out that could hook me the way this game did way back in the day.
