The Daily Grind: What are your 2012 MMO resolutions?

Dec 30th 2011 11:03AM (Massively)
@Mikkhail You know, the best way to quit WoW would probably to start by quitting WoW. You're probably missing a lot of opportunities because you're not looking for them as actively.

Choose My Adventure: Lineage II by a landslide

It seems the Kamael class upgrade choice isn't a choice at all, since it'll be dictated by gender.

The Daily Grind: Would a closed beta key giveaway convince you to try a new game?

Nov 29th 2011 10:07AM (Massively)
There's few games that do interest me these days; if it's any of these, of course I'll grab a key, but it's almost a rule these days that the only games that offer key giveaways are grinders which didn't get enough subscriptions on their websites to have a proper beta testing. It really doesn't matter if it's an alpha, closed beta or nearly open beta; it's really just about what game it is.

The Daily Grind: What 'world of' game do you want to see next?

Nov 19th 2011 9:38AM (Massively)
That's easy.

World of Tanks versus Battleships versus Warplanes.

With the first expansion adding infantries, of course.

The Perfect Ten: First impression turn-offs

Am I the only one who gets turned off by large, featureless plains with groups of enemies carefully sorted by type, just waiting for you to step next to them and eliminate them for Joe NPC #72?

@Crovak Pando will install itself in the background, and often uses your connection without asking you. If you have an unlimited connection and plenty of bandwidth, it's not too bad, but for those who don't, a few gigabytes every day is a lot.

Also, it seems it will reinstall itself after uninstalling, if you're still using the game that installed it. Without notifying you, of course.

The Daily Grind: What would you ask your favorite game dev in person?

Oct 26th 2011 1:32PM (Massively)
I think I would ask Will Wright if he ever regreted not being able to make Spore like he wanted to.

Barring that, Richard Garriot's opinion on the prevalence of Diku MMOs in the stagnating market would be quite interesting.

The Daily Grind: What's the worst guild death you've witnessed?

Sep 10th 2011 11:41AM (Massively)
The worst I've seen is a slow, quiet death.

Because of game mechanics, in Atlantica Online, small guilds that are part of large nations just aren't viable, so our little, friendly guild was "asked" to welcome a few outside players.

From there on, the new people just started taking all the big decisions; players from the old guild just left, stopped playing much or just quit the game altogether. The guild was still alive, but it was still a shadow of its past self - where there used to be a few friendly people, suddenly there was a bunch of kids screaming louder than anyone else and thinking the world owed them. The guild was effectively dead.

The Daily Grind: What game terminology gets your goat?

Jul 30th 2011 11:23AM (Massively)
I'll go with triple-A. Nobody ever talks about double-A or single-A MMOs, but triple-As are always very important.

Yeah...

The Daily Grind: What stock fantasy tropes bore you to death?

May 17th 2011 10:18AM (Massively)
Fireballs. Because gosh forbid there could be a world where high-powered magic manifests in some form other than a convenient ball of burning destruction.
