Exanimus was exactly this, a zombie MMO. Sadly, development was suspended back in October of last year.
The website is still live, at www.exanimusthegame.com where you can see some interesting concept art, but there's little else left there to see unfortunately.
I love Nexus-Prince Shaffar's dialogue, "What is this? You must forgive me, but I was not expecting company. As you can see, we are somewhat preoccupied right now. But no matter. As I am a gracious host, I will tend to you... personally." Refined, cultured, maybe a little bit camp, and absolutely willing to tear you to ribbons for having the gall to intrude on him.
Would you rather they stuck to a previously-announced release date, even when it became untenable, and released a sub-par product the might do irreparable harm to their reputation?
"Oh and quit your emo QQ. "Clearly I'm the only person who worries about the Internet being a breeding ground for the lowest common denominator."?"
My mistake - that should be, "Clearly I'm NOT...", thanks for pointing that one out to me Grav - I've edited the article to reflect the change.
I agree that the random tier token drops is stupid - it can't be that hard to set loot drops to reflect the makeup of the players in a group/raid, can it?
Also, your point about more badge drops in 25-man instances is a really good idea, it never occurred to me at all, you're right that it would certainly allow raiders to stay ahead. There would probably still be outcry from the non-raiders, but I guess some people are always going to find fault with what you do.
jackalope - Hopefully you're joking, but just in case you need clarification of the meaning of 'niggles', the following is copied from the Chambers Dictionary website.
niggle verb (niggled, niggling) intrans 1 to complain about small or unimportant details. 2 to bother, especially slightly but continually; to fuss. noun 1 a slight nagging worry. 2 a small complaint or criticism. niggler noun. niggling adj 1 fussy. 2 trivially troublesome or worrying. 3 persistently annoying. ETYMOLOGY: 19c; 17c, meaning 'to trifle'.
Ghen - I agree with you about the SS2 thing, although I think that the twist was handled much better in SS2 than Bioshock - there were too many hints about it in Bioshock for my taste. Still an awesome game though.
Schad - There are storyline missions out there, unfortunately you have to do some digging for them. If you're playing one of the new races, their starter areas have been better designed, and the missions there tend to have a better plot linking them together - that might be worth a look if you haven't tried them yet.
