DDO jumps to third-most-popular spot in MMO survey

" player interests are kept fresh, on the other hand it produces revenue for the company but also forces the company to put out quality content on a regular basis."

I stopped playing guild wars because it got boring without new content. Since guild war had no crafting i was a matter of finding the right gear and after you did that what was the point of playing.

Since I started playing 8 months ago, they have added two new adventure packs, revolutionized the guild system so it means something and removed many of the items you needed to pay for and made them free.

One thing no one mentioned so far is that DDO has a system where the more you play it the more free stuff you get. It is possible to get the entire game for free with enough play time.

I feel that the micro transaction system got me to plunk down my 49.99 and I have not payed for a game in years.

Another thing that DDO has going for it is that the very best items are not found in the store. you must acquire them in game. This means for the 6 months that I payed nothing I was just as good as the VIP high roller next to me. I just had to play more to get it.
