I normally agree with Ghostcrawler, but in this instance I can't. Based on the low amount of gear, if any, that you receive from your average heroic, I get NO FEELING OF ACCOMPLISHMENT knowing that I'm going to have to run the same dungeon 15 million more times in order to get the gear I want. If I need to run these dungeons so many times, I really don't want these dungeons to be "puzzles."
TLDR: No Ghostcrawler, finishing the heroic is not it's own reward. Ease up on 'em. I need to run this at least 5 more times today.
I may not agree with your viewpoint, as I am one of the frothing, frenzied, fanboys waiting anxiously for this game. But I have noticed a current trend, especially on the SWTOR forums, of shouting "DOOM" and saying how this game is going to fail. You are not alone.
I think trying to keep a healthy anticipation, without hoping too much, will help align our expectations with what we will actually receive from TOR.
Larry, thanks for your work on this. The wait for this game is killing me.
With the class specializations, how restrictive are they? Meaning, if I'm playing a DPS Inquisitor, am I going to have trouble finding a group because BH's are better DPS (hypothetical) and everyone wants me to heal? If I'm a healer, am I going to find soloing extremely slow because I don't do enough damage? Are companions going to provide more flexibility outside of your group role? (I guess I'm a big fan of the dual spec system in WoW, or the switching-out-skills system in GW)
Not that it matters, I'm sold either way. Go Bioware!
It looks awesome. This whole game is on "rails" so I don't know what people are whining about. You are playing the story they are telling for you. It's something thats been missing from MMO's and I think it's great.
Every other sandbox MMO needs you to go invent your own story and leaves it up to you to make it interesting (SWG, EVE). I usually end up getting bored of the grind. Who wants to play a game that is like a second job?
No matter how great something is, there will always be people out there complaining. YES, YOU ARE RIGHT. IF YOU COMPLAIN, WE WILL ALL REALIZE THAT YOU, MY LITTLE SNOWFLAKE, ARE TOO COOL FOR THIS GAME.
I think I'm the only person that thinks this is a good idea. No, a GREAT idea.
Every space combat sim has had one thing is common - long periods of boring time looking out into the blackness or watching the "distance to waypoint" meter wind down. Put me on a rail, throw some awesome story events at me, and make me feel like a hero. I'm looking forward to it.
And to you guys that are saying you won't buy this game because of this? I bet you do....
While I can appreciate the fact that they are trying to shake things up as far as payment plans go, I have a hard time paying "by the hour" to play a game.
On the other hand, the normal 30 day plan is less than other games charge per month. Are they expecting this to not be as good of a game? Or do they plan on making their money off us in the cash shop?
I don't know what the code is for MT's but Blizzard seems to have cracked it. I would never pay that amount of money for something like this. But at the same time, I don't feel like I'm missing out on something because I didn't buy it.
Well played Blizzard. They must have done a study of Barren's and Trade chat and said "you know, I bet these morons will drop ridiculous amounts of money on something if we make it pretty enough."
