Feb 19th 2010 3:47PM (WoW)Sorry to rant about all that, I just wish there were more girls playing competitive PC fps's, anstead of those hyped mainstream console junk. The only good halo was the first one, the only console fps that I ever played that required a fair degree of skill were Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, and those are years long passed. On a console you don't have moments in the match where your in the air and have to turn to some awkward angle as you fall down to a lower area, and hit a moving player with a perfectly timed, and predicted, hitscan shot, followed by a mid air rocket as they chase down after you, all of this happening in less then 3 seconds. It just doesn't happen, and to me, a game that doesn't have some sort of moment comparable to that, just doesn't require as much talent and practice to master. Any player, even a medium skilled one who only had a couple of weeks of practice, with a mouse, would mop the floor with anyone who was using a controller in any fps game, and probably most games in general except a fighting or flying game. And unlike the controller player, they would do it without computer assisted aiming. Conversely any console player who learned to use a mouse properly would easily dominate any of their piers in any fps game in which the other players were using controllers. And with practice, they would even beat other players using mice. A mouse aiming scheme requires precice movements, extremely accurate and sensative hardware, and most importantly, practice, training, muscle memory, and much faster reflexes and reaction times.
I hope to see some of these other lady pro gamers move up to where the real skill is, to where the serious and real competition is. And I hope someday my months of practice will pay off in some way and I'll reach some higher level.
