Aion 24/7 GM support 'coming very soon'

Oct 14th 2009 5:43PM (Massively)
"This game is getting so much leeway due to it's hyped up nature that it scares me.

- 4 hour queues
- Botting, Macro's.. name it
- Gold Spammers
- Lack of GM support outside 9-5 business hours.
...

the more i thin on it the less i wan to touch this game :S"

To my knowledge none of the servers have 4 hour queues anymore. People left their characters logged in all day every day and that caused the queues. When they changed shops, they fixed the queues. Botting and Macros are present in every MMO. Glider ring a bell? Gold spammers? I will give you that one, however they are currently doing ban waves to target spammers. And quite frankly it cannot get any worse than it currently is so therefore it has to get better.

The GM support is pretty thin, however the game is polished and the bugs that are there don't really require GMs. So while it would be nice, I personally haven't even needed a GM once in my near month of playing. So before you spew ignorance how about you actually I don't know, research before you speak.

The Daily Grind: What did you think of Asmodae?

Oh yeah random but Voice Overs will be in at launch. There are VOs for the Korean/Chinese/Japanese versions, and NC said that they couldn't get the English ones in for the beta. They hope to have them in at launch.

Aion is a PvP focused game. At 25 You open the Abyss a PvPvE area that allows you to fight against the other side. There are territories to control there and specific Abyss Ranks and items. Runes of Magic is a WoW clone much moreso than Aion. Aion has an absolutely huge following in China and Korea, Japan not as much. The game will be around for a long time and I view as the more stable one.

The beta was to 10 so you couldn't do real PvP. There were duels and the like. Last night the Coliseum was open which was similar to Gurubashi Arena in WoW. FFA combat on same side, so what happened was two major alliances fought against each other (Raids) and it was good fun.

If you want to know more just lemme know.

Hands on with the Aion beta: Becoming a Daeva

Jun 22nd 2009 3:47PM (Massively)
Look at any of WoWs 1-10 areas, is it any different? It's Kiddie you say? Was it kiddy when an exiled Daeva imprisoned in a cage for all eternity, says to you he has seen your future. When he transports you into his prophecy and you fight off against the General of the Elyosian forces? When after that you get sent to Pandemonium a city that puts all of WoWs to shame in design. Then you become a Daeva, basically an angel.

WoW has all too many of the Kill X loot X, and they aren't much better than Aions. You compare Aions lowbie area to Wrath of the Lich King aka near Endgame. People's complete devotion to WoW continuously surprises me.

And the game's flying being Grade-C dubbed english martial arts movie? I take it you didn't go to either sides Coliseums and experience the massive PvP going on in it. Yeah when you look around and see 40 people duking it out on the ground and spells being shot from in the sky. You realize this is an MMO unlike others. Also that Grade C you refer to is a cutscene battle. This is an eastern MMO, and it is stylized as such.

Seriously though if anyone has questions about Asmodian or Elyosian sides let me know I will try my best to answer.

To my knowledge there isn't a better one at 60. The level cap is at 80 so you have quite a ways to go.

Hands-on with Age of Conan's priests

Bear Shaman had a move called Awakening, that was their Revive.

Erling Ellingsen shows off AoC PvP video

Alright there is open world it goes as follows:

You have PvP servers where there are completely open rules for PvP. So to think of WoW PvP servers, except imagine Horde/Alliance weren't sides. It's just sort of I don't like you, I kill you. Regardless if you and I are both Aquilonians or Cimmerians or Stygians.

Guilds can take over one of 7 battlekeeps on the servers that are incredibly massive. They are giant cities with armaments, buildings, crafting stations, etc. Other guilds can attempt to attack this place using infantry and siege weapons that are created by players. (crafting professions) This takes place in the Border Kingdom, this is where the bases are located.

So both open world and siege combat give you PvP XP and PvP levels. Honestly just think of WoW in that regard with getting gear for PvPing and whatnot. Except I don't think it will take as long as WoW. I cannot be sure of that but it's just my feeling.

Then you have these PvP Minigames. At any time you select it from you GUI and you can play Team Deathmatch or CTF. The minigames are distractions from the actual open world PvP. It's just kinda hard to show that in a video you know? If you have any more question just ask in this post I will answer to the best of my ability.

Ask Massively: Age of Conan - Laissez les abattage rouler!

Couple things about Age of Conan:

NDA WAS Lifted. It was lifted the day the Gamespot PVP Beta went live. Go to youtube and you will see a lot of new videos.

The 5 dollar charge is as follows. When you buy a game you get 30 days free. So the monthly is 15 dollars (I know its 14.99 but lets make it eays). The 5 dollar charge is for a 3 day head start AND 10 additional days of gametime after the standard free 30. So for 5 you get 13 days free which is greater then 1/3 the standard 30 days and is ACTUALLY cheaper then paying for 10 days. So in essence they are giving you 3 days for free. So it's not really that big of a deal honestly. Some people play for 30 days resub then completely hate the game, instead you put 5 extra in get 13 extra days and it COULD possibly save you 10 bucks in the long run.
