Guild Wars 2 closed beta impressions -- Shawn's thoughts

Damn that looks awesome. I can't wait until more people can play this (including me!)

Also, is that music from the game, or someplace else? I love the music.

The Daily Grind: What dead game would you play in a second if it revived?

Auto Assault. I friggin loved playing that game. I played from early in the beta all the way until the servers were turned off (and had a hell of a good time with the devs making everyone max level and spawning all sorts of goodies heh).

Aeria releases Repulse sci-fi shooter

@nhat

Actually it uses the Lithtech Jupiter EX engine. It's the engine F.E.A.R. used. Blacklight Retribution uses Unreal Engine 3, if you compare the two games they obviously use vastly different engines (one is new and constantly updated aka UE3, the other is old and not updated).

Prius Online hits closed beta testing

The game is pretty fun so far I must admit, But the horribly voice acted "cut scenes" that you can't skip (at least, not so far) really take it down a notch or two. Plus, I have the game maxed out, everything is on etc, but the game doesn't look anywhere near as good as the screens here or any place else I've seen the game...wth?

If it's open beta, and you don't need a beta key to play, and NA isn't IP blocked, why can't I log in?! ARGH!

Metal Assault enters closed beta -- get your beta key from Massively!

To bad you guys are bashing it without trying it. It's actually a fun little game for what it is. I'd recommend giving it a shot actually. Pretty fun.

Leaked video shows possible Microsoft plans for PC gaming and social features

Mar 20th 2011 4:38PM (Big Download)
Drakkenfyre, I hate to tell you, but the future of gaming on the PC is social gaming on Facebook and other such social networks. Do you see how many companies are expanding into these networks (Insomniac is the biggest one that comes to mind) and putting mega money behind Facebook/social games?

It's sad, but it's true. Of course, there will still be retail and digital games for us PC gamers. I'm pretty sure those will never stop, but meh, more Facebook games are certainly the future sadly.

For now....

Report: Battlefield 3 PC to be lead platform; mod tools might not be released

Feb 8th 2011 11:49AM (Big Download)
Actually from a dev post on the DICE forums, it does seem to be rather hard for them to do mod tools this time around. They would have to let everyone have access to the game's raw data (close to 80 gb apparently) which would include everything from meshes to animations to havok physics etc etc and DICE is just not comfortable letting everybody have access to that data.
