Facebook MMO is the Warcraft killer, says EverQuest's lead developer

The original story isn't talking about a Facebook MMO at all.

"Barker, who admits he is “constantly thinking” about what shape this all-conquering MMO might be, suggested social networking site Facebook as inspiration, saying “Facebook doesn’t care how long you’ve been on Facebook”.

“Things like that show us that there are a lot of people out there that are interested in being involved in an internet community, especially with all the apps on Facebook, in playing casual games. At some point someone’s going to do an MMO that really caters to that group, and is going to have a billion subscribers or whatever. There’s another ceiling somewhere that we haven’t hit yet.”

Basically, he's talking about an MMO that caters to the casual gamers who play games with friends on Facebook. (Things like Mafia Wars.)

Facebook MMO is the Warcraft killer, says EverQuest's lead developer

Come on, Colin, you gots to read better!

The interview was with videogamer.com; Escapist was doing the time honored tradition of taking someone else's story and trying to make it look like your own story by taking what they wrote and changing a few words around to make it pass copyscape!

Calamity as Catalyst - My Vote of Confidence in the NBA

The only question I can think of is is it too late? Even if David Stern and the rest of the league takes measure of the situation, brings in the owners and players, works out some form to monitor calls like the NFL, etc., will the casual fans still trust the league?

Much like with athlete scandals, it's really sad that one bad apple is going to tarnish EVERYONE. With all this coverage on Tim, I wonder if there are any refs out there doing some nice charity work this summer, or giving back to the community? Who knows -- certainly sites like ESPN won't cover it unless it brings in a few thousand visitors.

Full-length Zelda fan film one-ups Uwe Boll

Mar 28th 2006 7:13PM (Joystiq)
Well...it looks better than a Uwe Boll film, but that's not exactly high praise. The guy playing Link just doesn't look the part, and the sword fighting looked pretty bland. One rule I have for any indy film maker: if you don't have anyone who knows how to fight (or use a weapon), don't make a movie where it's a central ingredient.

The only really good thing I saw in that trailer was Ganon; whomever played him just looked right.
