everyone likes what they like, and you're certainly welcome to be passionate about anything you like. I would not agree with your assessment, however. My original comments have little to do with this sort of thing, and more about the power of a couple really strong "brands" for lack of better terminology.

@Utakata one doesn't need to wait until a few months after. I wasn't taking a guess at it's ongoing success... I was speaking comparatively between typical launches of games like Aion or Rift where people talk of relatively unimpressive absorbption of subscriptions from the WoW-player base and how WoW is apparently in danger of losing a bunch of it's players. This may be true on a small scale, but I was merely suggesting that SWTOR might be the first of these that stings a bit more given that it's based on a franchise EVERYONE knows (face it, star wars is a bigger franchise than 99% of the things discussed on this very site) and being backed by bioware doesn't hurt.. a company that repeatedly makes award winning RPGs time after time. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe there's such thing as a "WoW-killer"... but this might be the first time the release of a new game actually makes a mark worthy of talking about in that way.

Just wait until SWTOR drops.. the first commercial MMO with a franchise bigger than Warcraft attached to it. People love to talk about competition to WoW, but it will be the first time something poses an actual sizeable diminishment compared to those that have come and gone over the years, regardless of good they are.

Do away with "gear grinds" or make loot randomized, so as to not create that sort of jealousy that breeds hardcoreism surrounding specific named pieces. Center the game more around exploration and interaction.

This stuff has been going on since the 80's. It's not some new thing.

I think there's a fundamental misunderstanding as to how an organization like this works. To many it's an "idea", and if some random schmuck decides to act on his own while "saluting" the organization through his actions, that's not the same as them creating a purpose-driven operation that they support and run themselves.

If they deny their involvement, they were not involved. It was most likely individual(s) who admire the cause.

Furthermore, who isn't to say Johnny Nogooder didn't just plant anonymous leads to deflect suspicion in the wrong direction?

my first/immediate complaint though is how clean everyone looks though. some fun watching though, I usually skip over this kind of thing.
