LOL .. for someone who is supposedly "leading" a MMO company, Mr Smart does not seem to know much about MMOs.
Anyone who is semi-following the new MMOs would have seen that Bioware statement repeated many many times.
Alganon is really getting into the "priceless" territory. "Whenever I think the drama is going to end, they PULL it RIGHT in" ... oops .. am I plagiarizing God Father 3 now .. hahahhahahahaha.
PS3 is obviously powerful enough to handle Oblivion. It has a different archectiture but there is plenty of time to port it. It also make sense. Oblivion is popular and Sony probably will be more than happy to pay to get it on the PS3 launch line-up.
As for PSP, they can port the game with downgraded graphics but with the level design, gameplay and story intact, somewhat like Tomb Raider Legends. Storage can easily be solved with MULTIPLE UMDs. While the PSP cannot handle the levels of Xbox 360 graphics, it has more than enough power to handle similar gameplay as long as they can work out a reasonable control scheme.
Many good points raised. I want to reiterate that the japanese are as suspectable to sequals & franchise. How many mario & pokemon games have nintendo published? How many Final Fantasy games are there? How many super robot war or dynasty warrior games are there?
People just point to the SUCCESSFUL indie game and complain why there aren't more of them. Well, surprise surprise, there are quite a lot of them just most are crappy low production value games that failed.
There is a reason why they are risky ... most of them don't sell.
Innvoation is way over rated. I think a lot of gamers would rather play a good, solid franchise RPG with some new features than play a cooking simulation.

Alganon founder David Allen strikes back
Apr 9th 2010 4:23PM (Massively)This drama is MUCH more entertaining than Alganon. We should have a pool to see who is going to be the big loser at the end of this lawsuit.
Get a head start on Star Trek Online's open beta with a little help from Massively

Why don't publishers take risks?
