Is World of Warcraft a religion?

I think they are missing the distinction between addiction and religion.

What WAR could learn from WoW about hybrid classes

While improved itemization is a good thing, I agree with Rzar for the most part. WoW has gone a bit too far with their hybrid classes.

NDOORS CEO on Atlantica Online succeeding in the West

I agree that this style is getting a bit long in the tooth. I've been totally worn out on it. Probably from years of my kids tuning into it every waking moment. Even they're growing out of it, though.

Then again, I prefer being a smelly, grumbly dwarf when I play an MMO. My opinion might now be worth much. 8)

Mythic announces official forums for WAR (with a twist)

Not exactly. It is possible to express your honest opinion in a polite and constructive manner. When you do so, it is helpful to the community and the game developers. When you act like a jerk, it doesn't help anyone.

For your second point, I don't think anyone believes everything is 'rainbows and gumdrops'. I believe the opinion generally expressed is they are having fun and they appreciate the work being put into the game to make it better and better.

The Daily Grind: Why do you play?

Feb 1st 2009 10:13AM (Massively)
When I played WoW, I played with the goal of becoming the biggest badass in the game. Hard core raiding and PvP so I could get the epix and be in the top tier of players. It was hard work, and sometimes not very fun, and after years of playing it led to a total flipflop on the way I play. I blame game design for some of it and my own goals and attitudes for a good bit of it.

After WoW, I tried a bunch of MMOs and finally settled on WAR. I'm now playing with a whole new attitude. When I log in, the goal now is to purely have fun and forget hard core character progression. I do whatever tickles my fancy and I don't really worry about the epic loot. I refuse to do anything that even approaches a grind. I'm also leveling a bunch of alts at a leisurely pace. It's been a lot of fun.

I'm also no longer hard wired into one game. I still play AoC on occasion and I'll try out other games to see what catches my interest. I'm also eagerly awaiting games like Darkfall. Variety is the spice of life.

Forums will be a good idea if they're heavily moderated to keep things positive. I've never minded criticism and negative opinions as long as they were discussed in a constructive manner. Having that kind of feedback is the only way you can make things better. It's the trolls and flamers who intend to spoil it for everyone.

Yup, people are. Scenario participation is down, though. A whole lot of folks are now into the open RvR.

You forgot to post your number. That makes it a big hard to call you. 8)

"No retreat, no surrender" for Age of Conan

Adding in more content based directly on lore will be awesome. It'll be neat to see stories from the books come alive in the game.

The frost giant's daughter they showed is from one of the best. It's pretty exciting.

It looks like they're moving a bit beyond the major bug fixes and rounding out the world more.

I still play occasionally and my last bout back in December was very neat. I'll try it again in a while to see what's going on.

Comic-Con 09: Warhammer Online pulling out all the stops

It's miserable people who hate anything that isn't what they're into and despise the fact that someone might be having fun with something they don't like. They can't stand it. They're all probably perfectly fine people in real life, but Internet anonymity wreaks havoc on some people's personalities.

If you offer a counter point to their trolling posts then you're a fanboi or an idiot. It doesn't matter that your replies are well thought out, accurate, and succinct.
