Here's something that annoys me with Massively. There are pictures in the article that when clicked, take you to the very same article you're reading. I wanted to know what that shot up top was from, and can't figure it out.
Really, any other website I know of, when you see a picture and click it, it either shows a bigger version of it, or links you to the site it's from or that it's describing.
In Warhammer Online, the spell WAAAAAGH! for the Black Orc.
Forgetting that it has way too many As in it, just talking gameplay mechanics here. It's such a prominent ability lore-wise, and it's the top-most ability in its tree, which means you have to spec for it. Then to use it, you have to have your career mechanic maxed out. And all it does is a burst of very low AoE damage. This damage is Magic, on a melee class, so it does even less as it's not getting any benefit from equipment. And to top it all off, it also leaves a magic debuff on the targets, which is completely useless as again, it's a melee class.
Such a disappointing ability really mostly because it's the freakin' WAAAGH! you'd expect it to be more.... waaaghish
I care a whole lot. I'd go as far as saying that Character Customization is one of the most important systems for me, after only the Combat system and the game's Economy/Crafting systems. If there was a game with a solid Combat System, great Crafting/Economy and an awesome Character Customization system, I would need nothing else. I won't need quests, levels, stats, dungeons, bosses, guilds or anything else really.
As to why that is, it's because it's a form of expression. Like the guy above said, if I want to be a marauding village-destroying barbarian, it would be nice to reflect that. It means that my character has my own personal touch to it that's different than everyone else's.
Any kind of healer. It's just a boring snoozefest. A game of whack-a-mole most of the time. It's basically saying that in a game that revolves around killing people, the healer is the one that stays in the back and does no killing. Never made any sense to me.
Also, the Hunter types with the pet. A pet is just so... annoying. Having to manage another character is just really cumbersome. What's interesting is that there are certain degrees of it. From the worst, which will be something like Dragon Age where the "pets" are full characters, to semi-enjoyable like the Warlock pets in WoW or the Squigs in Warhammer. The less I'm involved with them, the better.

Character Customization is very important indeed.
