Yeah, Path of Exile does so many things right that D3 has neglected. I'll play both, but in all honesty I think that PoE is the superior game. It has a better skill system, barter system, customization, and potion management. I also prefer the dark, gritty, stifling atmosphere of the game, it reminds me a lot of what I liked about the original Diablo.
To me it represents the enduring struggle between nature and man's reckless destruction of the environment. The tree sprouting legs is a metaphor for its desire to escape the polluted beaches it once called home...or something like that.
I've said it many times, but it bears repeating; the core game-mechanics of Perpetuum are much better than EvE. WASD movement, line-of-sight combat, anti-blob mechanics, skill-accumulation, and now terrain building, all make Perpetuum a much more enjoyable experience at it's core. Even the Dev team and customer support is amazing, possibly the best I've ever seen. The problem, obviously, is the low population, immaturity of content, and the less-appealing aesthetic of insectoid-like robots (spaceships are sexy).
I've tried countless number of times to force myself to get into EvE, trudging through 3 months of play time, because I was convinced by the masses that it was the better game. Apparently, to enjoy it I just needed: the right build, the right corp, the right sector, the right mind-set, etc., etc. But I could never get it to stick. I never have this problem with Perpetuum because it's simply fun from the very start.
I think your April Fool's joke is going to backfire on you when you find that most of us reader's find this staged shot and it's faux-commentary infinitely more entertaining than the leaderboard column.
On Brandywine, the most populated NA server, they recently held an in-game funeral for one of the players who had passed away in real life. Since he played a Creep, the funeral was held in the Moors. Both Freeps and Creeps attended, and it went off without a hitch. No griefers showed up to PK the attendees, or cause any mayhem in general.
The LOTRO community is a cut above the rest, and I have zero concern about a cross-server instance finder. Sure, there are inherent problems with the system itself that should be looked at and improved, but the fear that cross-server participation will be the downfall of the community is absurd.
The PvP is by far my favorite aspect of Tera, so it's disappointing to know that battlegrounds won't be implemented at launch. Now I'm thinking of holding off until it's included, but by that time GW2 may be out, and if it is...well, I doubt I'll really care about Tera any longer.
