City of Heroes Zone Events
- The Kraken
Surprisingly evasive for something so vast, the Kraken lurks amid the trees of Perez Park. Although a Kraken is usually a sort of giant octopus or squid, this one is in fact a gelid extradimensional life form.
She's often mistakenly called the Giant Squid, but Lusca is in fact (as you can see) an octopus. Her hobbies include surfacing unexpectedly, eating dock workers, and awarding the Devilfish badge to anyone who helps defeat her. Each one of her tentacles is effectively a monster in itself!
The Hellions don't cease to be a threat once you're out of Atlas Park. They pay regular visits to Steel Canyon, where they get their jollies setting buildings on fire. Helpful heroes can grab an extinguisher and put the fires out, but be quick - if the building blows up, it'll send you straight to the hospital.
- The Ghost Ship
This luminous, spectral wreck sails through the streets of Independence Port and Talos Island, disgorging its crew of undead souls. Heroes who aren't torn apart by spectral skulls can earn the Ectoplasmic badge for their efforts.

- Rikti Invasion
Even at times when the Rikti aren't making regular strikes on Paragon City and the Rogue Isles, an Invasion can still be triggered by completing the Lady Grey Task Force.
Few creatures hit harder than the mighty Jurassik, a stony titan who prowls the squalid industrial zone known as Crey's Folly, an offence against the natural world the Devouring Earth treasure. That's quite a weapon he's got. When you've been bashed by a car with a girder wrapped round it and survived, you know you're a real hero.
Affiliated with the Banished Pantheon, this horrific undead colossus appears regularly in the eternal gloom of Dark Astoria. Brave heroes can often find him at the top of a pyramidal mausoleum in Moth Cemetery, while his kinsmen call out to the Sleeper who lies beneath.
The serpent of Salamanca is one of the less fearsome creatures we encountered on our way. While most of the antagonists were only too happy to put up a fight, Sally dives under the waves at the slightest suggestion of violence.
Not a zone event of the usual kind, the Kronos Titan actually appears in response to a certain event in a player's mission. To be precise, it's an ambush. Everyone present can, however, join in in defeating it, since it's an outdoor threat. We reached this unfortunate hero just in time.
- Jack in Irons
As revolting as he is idle, Jack in Irons inhabits the magical realm of Croatoa, where he can sometimes be found snoozing on a huge carven throne. He fights on the side of the wicked Fey known as the Redcaps.
- Battle in the Grim Vale
One of the more spectacular zone events is the great Battle of Croatoa, in which the two factions go to war. On one side are the Fir Bolg and the Cabal, pumpkin-headed fey and witches respectively; on the other, the Tuatha de Danaan and the Redcaps. Each brings a champion, with the Pumpkin King Eochai leading the Fir Bolg, and Jack in Irons leading the Redcaps. Most players find themselves somewhere inbetween...
City of Villains has its zone events, too. However, some of them can be started up by players. At this substation (and others like it) in Cap au Diable, you can find gremlins: defeat 100, and Deathsurge will spawn.
A mass of demonic electricity with something that might be a face, Deathsurge and its gremlins are a challenge suited to low-level villains.
- Scrapyard's Grave
This monument is where the remains of Scrapyard lie. His ghost appears here to lead the miners through Sharkhead.
Any strikebreaker who gets in their way is likely to be burnt, bludgeoned and trampled to death.
The fearsome Caleb is another player-spawned monster. If 100 spectrals in the Thorn Isle area are defeated during daylight, he will appear at dusk with a host of demons. He keeps moving and can be hard to find, so fly high!
