But here's the kicker ... he has watermarked these images and defends them as his own! Some examples include <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/arahanclaveau/1047157858/in/set-72157600201238870">Khamindie by Arahan Claveau</a> and an image by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lena-kennedy/1890311272/">Lena Kennedy</a>. Not the least of this person's victims is Linden Lab itself, whose trademark logo is used to promote the products without the <a href="http://secondlife.com/community/fansites_regs.php">"No infringement is intended"</a> notice required of any website or blog that uses the logo which might cause brand confusion. <br /><br />A simple misunderstanding? Well Lena Kennedy contacted Guide Hawk and by his response it would seem Guide is sticking to his guns. <a href="http://www.slprofiles.com/secondlifeblog.asp?a=comments&amp;id=11146">Here is what he had to say</a>:<br /><br /><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/10/intellectual-property-if-its-not-nailed-down/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Intellectual property: If it's not nailed down ...</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/10/intellectual-property-if-its-not-nailed-down/">Intellectual property: If it's not nailed down ...</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sat, 10 Nov 2007 18:23:00 EST. Oh, I'm just kidding. But if you're a budding content creator who would like to take their <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/second-life/"><em>Second Life</em></a> building skills to the next level, you may consider joining me (<a href="http://www.aimeeweber.com/">Aimee Weber</a>) along with <a href="http://www.themagicians.us/">Kimberly Rufer-Bach</a> (Kim Anubis) and Richard Platel (Wednesday Grimm) this <strong>Friday November 9th at 7pm SLT</strong> on <a href="http://slurl.com/secondlife/Purple%20Stripe/73/203/21 ">Purple Stripe Island</a> for the release party for our new book <em><a href="http://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0470171146.html">Creating Your World: The Official Guide to Advanced Content Creation for Second Life (978-0-470-17114-1)</a>.</em> Cake will be served.<br /><br />During the event authors will answer questions and give brief demonstrations on some of the material covered in the book such as simple texture baking and how to script an information kiosk. The lessons are free but we will likely try to hypnotize you into buying the book. Hope to see you all there!<br /><br />P.S. The cake is a lie.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/meet-the-authors-of-creating-your-world/">Meet the authors of Creating Your World</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 07 Nov 2007 20:18:00 EST. In the spirit of this film, I thought I would take you all on a quick photographic journey of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/second-life/" style="font-style: italic;">Second Life</a>, starting with the smallest objects possible and ending with a view of everything, all that there is. I will be adjusting scale for aesthetics rather than using an exponential scale, which is particularly handy since <span style="font-style: italic;">Second Life</span> is not QUITE as large as the real-world universe. But I think you will be surprised to see just how big it is.<br /><br />So let the journey begin!<br /><br /><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/second-life-and-the-powers-of-ten/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Second Life and the powers of ten</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/second-life-and-the-powers-of-ten/">Second Life and the powers of ten</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 07 Nov 2007 18:01:00 EST.
