Brendan Drain

- Columnist -

A long-time MMO-addict, northern-irish lad Brendan "Nyphur" Drain is a publicly respected member of the EVE Online community, with over six years of playtime under his belt. Brendan is Massively's resident EVE Online expert and writer of the biweekly EVE Evolved column, published Sunday evenings. The column covers everything from guides and opinion pieces to commentary on game design and hints on preparing for upcoming expansions.

In addition to the column, Brendan covers EVE Online news, community events, general interest stories, and other posts. When he finds the time in his hectic schedule, he can sometimes be found writing features on game design topics or other MMOs he's playing.

Having grown up with a passion for writing, playing video games, and getting paid for bad comedy, Eliot Lefebvre has found the perfect position as a contributing editor to Massively. He has written our superhero MMO column, A Mild-Mannered Reporter; our Final Fantasy XIV column, The Mog Log; our WildStar column, The Nexus Telegraph; and our roleplaying column, Storyboard. Jef Reahard

- Managing Editor -

Jef is an author, pilot, and scruffy looking nerf-herder, not necessarily in that order.  When he's not writing for Massively or slipping the surly bonds of earth, he dreams of the perfect Cool Ranch Dorito.

Lost Continent is his fault, and he's the creator of Massively's MMO Burnout, Rewind, Stick and Rudder, Chaos Theory, The Firing Line, Some Assembly Required, Community Detective, Wings Over Atreia, The Anvil of Crom, and the Alter Ego web comic.

He's covered SWTOR, Elder Scrolls, EverQuest II, and Darkfall at length, and he has an incurable case of MMO wanderlust. You'll occasionally find him atop Massively's Soapbox.

When not sitting at his computer -- crap, whom is he kidding? He is always sitting at his computer. Larry has made a career out of running websites and playing MMORPGs, so posing in front of a monitor is a way of life. If he is not busy updating his web designs, he is digitally painting or typing out that novel he will never finish.

Bree is an unrepentant escapist with a predilection for MMOs. When not compulsively proofreading cereal boxes and newspapers, she can be found modding, PvPing on the auction hall, and touring the Next Big Thing with her guild on a quest for the elusive perfect game.

At Massively, Bree spends her hours slavishly copyediting, dueling with PR, co-hosting the podcast, and tinkering in the darkest dungeons of the site code. She currently pens Working As IntendedAsk Massively, Week in Review, Not So Massively, Betawatch, and The Think Tank and contributes to The Daily Grind.

MJ Guthrie

- Contributing Editor -

When not immersed in her favorite virtual worlds, MJ can be found hanging out with her family, reading, coaching/playing sports, writing fiction, singing, and dabbling in graphic design (in random order, depending on mood and season). Her favorite part of MMOs? Observing the dynamics of virtual communities. That psychology degree has to come in handy somewhere, doesn't it?

MJ's Massively adventures can be found many places:  She co-created Some Assembly Required; penned Wings Over Atreia; investigates conspiracies in Chaos Theory; chronicles adventures in Norrathian Notebook; and livestreams for The Stream Team.

Wargaming released a new World of Warships dev diary video this week. It's focused on aircraft carriers, which the firm calls "the most unique type of vessel" in the game. Carriers are speedy, excellent at spotting enemy ships, and of course pack a tremendous punch. Once a carrier has launched...

H1Z1's audio is a key part of its immersion

When done right, you hardly ever consciously acknowledge a game's sound, but when it's missing or done poorly, it can jar a player out of desired immersion. In a dev diary posted today, H1Z1 Technical Architect Greg Spence talks about the sound of the game and demonstrates a few tests. "So much...

Chaos Theory: Exploring the Halloween that almost wasn't in The Secret World

Funcom just about blew it. I have cut The Secret World plenty of slack for hiccups and bumps over the years (and I am willing to do so in the future because it just doesn't have an equal in the MMOverse and it does what it does so well), but this last one can't be brushed off. This latest misstep...
