<em>Every two weeks, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/facebook-mmography/">Facebook MMOgraphy</a> brings you the latest news, guides and analysis about MMOs on Facebook and Facebook apps associated with MMOs.<br />
</em><br />
In my last column I took <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/05/23/facebook-mmography-first-impression-of-vampire-mmo-city-of-eter/">a look at the Facebook vampire MMO, <em>City of Eternals</em></a>. One of the commenters on the piece turned me on to another Facebook MMO, the free-to-play, browser-based <a href="http://faunasphere.com/"><em>Faunasphere</em></a>. This game is more like <a href="http://www.freerealms.com/"><em>Free Realms</em></a> than traditional combat-oriented MMOs. It is generally aimed at a younger demographic, one that wants to collect cute animal avatars and customize their virtual living spaces with an endless array of decorations and themes. Using both in-game cash and real-life money, players can create an oasis for their animal avatars to live in. <br />
<br />
There is no combat or PvP, no raids or skirmishes. The goals of this game is to clean up a toxic world with your animal avatar and transform it into an oasis for all life. If that's your cup of MMO-steeped tea, read on!<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/06/06/facebook-mmography-first-impressions-of-faunasphere/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Facebook MMOgraphy: First impressions of Faunasphere</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/06/06/facebook-mmography-first-impressions-of-faunasphere/">Facebook MMOgraphy: First impressions of Faunasphere</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 06 Jun 2010 19:00:00 EST. <br />
</em>Twilight jokes aside, vampire MMOs are among us. Free-to-play <a href="http://www.joymax.com/darkeden/"><em>Dark Eden</em></a> and <a href="http://reignofblood.net/"><em>Reign of Blood</em></a> are already out. IGG's <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/03/26/igg-introduces-vampire-mmo-moonlight-online/"><em>Moonlight Online</em> is due later this year</a> and Spacetime Studios, developer of 3D action MMORPG iPhone app <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pocket-legends-3d-mmo/id355767097?mt=8"><em>Pocket Legends</em></a>, has <a href="http://www.spacetimestudios.com/content.php-Empire-of-Night"><em>Empire of Night</em></a> in the works. And earlier this year, <a href="http://www.ohai.com/">ohai Studios</a> debuted their free-to-play vampire MMO, <a href="http://www.cityofeternals.com/"><em>City of Eternals</em></a>, both on their own site and on <a href="http://apps.facebook.com/eternals/">Facebook</a>.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/city-of-eternals"><em>City of Eternals</em></a> is the only MMORPG on Facebook that is really like an MMORPG. Quests, factions, crafting, equipment that needs regular upgrading and other recognizable features are there. But more than that is the fact that the game places you in the same virtual space with other players. This isn't a trading card game with a chat interface or a single player RPG that allows you to use your Facebook friends to accomplish tasks in-game whether or not they are online. In <em>CoE </em>you actually run past other players. For that, the game gets points. Unfortunately, many of the game systems are confusing and the quest flow is a mess. Read on for more first impressions!<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/05/23/facebook-mmography-first-impression-of-vampire-mmo-city-of-eter/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Facebook MMOgraphy: First impression of vampire MMO City of Eternals</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/05/23/facebook-mmography-first-impression-of-vampire-mmo-city-of-eter/">Facebook MMOgraphy: First impression of vampire MMO City of Eternals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 23 May 2010 12:00:00 EST. <br />
SOE's upcoming spy MMO <a href="http://theagency.station.sony.com/"><em>The Agency</em></a> has been long in the making. We've been covering it at Massively <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/the-agency">for quite some time</a> now. Though it's not quite ready to launch yet, SOE has <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/05/04/soe-unveils-the-agency-facebook-game-announces-the-agency-will/">surprised us this week</a> with a Facebook gaming app, <a href="http://apps.facebook.com/agencycovertops/"><em>The Agency: Covert Ops</em></a>. Though <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/covert-ops/"><em>Covert Ops</em></a> is a Facebook app based on an MMO, it's not an MMO itself. There is no real time interaction with other players, for example. However it does provide light entertainment for those who enjoy the spy genre and has the same tone and feel of their upcoming MMO title.<br />
<br />
<strong>The Basics</strong><br />
The core of the game is leveling your spy via missions. The missions follow a storyline and some of them are accomplished simply by having the correct resources needed, others require you to complete a minigame. Rewards include in-game cash, experience for your character and components to build better equipment. Every mission requires a certain amount of Cover to complete and when you run out of Cover, you need to allow it to replenish over time or buy more through a microtransaction store. Pop ups provide a tutorial to walk you through the gameplay flow and videos explain minigame play.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/05/09/facebook-mmography-first-impressions-of-the-agency-covert-ops/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Facebook MMOgraphy: First impressions of The Agency: Covert Ops</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/05/09/facebook-mmography-first-impressions-of-the-agency-covert-ops/">Facebook MMOgraphy: First impressions of The Agency: Covert Ops</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 09 May 2010 15:00:00 EST.
