Another week, another gorgeous Star Trek Online
screenshot from reader Mark. Mark sent us in this picture of the Enterprise looking for a parking spot around Deep Space Nine, perhaps endlessly circling the lot while the husband's waiting for someone close to the door to pull out and the wife is arguing that they should just park a little further away and hoof it in with EVA suits.
Fun fact: This was just one of dozens of screenshots that Mark sent in February 2013 when we put out the Great One Shots Call for more pictures. A less-fun fact: We're starting to run out of community-submitted screenshots to share with you, and our well might be dry by the end of January. Remember, it's you who keeps One Shots
Some might say that a picture of a courtyard is nothing to get worked up over. But what if that courtyard... were in LotRO's
Middle-earth? What if it featured a big statue... of some long-dead guy who means nothing to you? What if there's an entire cast of really famous characters... just off-camera? But they're totally there?
"I think this is the former city of Tham Mirdain in Eregion," reader Ben said. "The outer portions, at least, look very scenic."
Let's drink it in, people. Ahhh.
I guess I have squirrels on the brain today because this is the second time that I've stared at a picture of a giant squirrel in as many hours. This is from reader Bill, who is immensely proud of his new squirrel mount in RIFT
and not at all ashamed that he's subjugating the local mutated wildlife just so that he doesn't have to walk.
"Ignorant clods. Don't you know even lava can't stop a genius ninja like me?"
Those are the brash -- and final -- words of Nate, who sent evidence of his demise from Guild Wars 2
. Darn shame, that. Nate was a real stand-up guy. I mean, not now he's not. Now he's like this little charred husk that's floating down a molten stream. But at least he looks all defiant while doing so!
That's about it for this edition of One Shots. This week's screenshot challenge is to bombard me with just scads and scads of awesome pictures and stories. Refill my depleted repository and secure the future of this feature's legacy!
Want to be featured in a future edition of One Shots? Send your favorite MMO screenshots to firstname.lastname@example.org, and don't forget to include your name, the name of the game, and a description of the scene. Large, colorful, UI-free shots that tell a story and really show off the game make for the best images. Look ma, we brought back One Shots!
