Lifetime sub?? Hehehe. After all the debacles we've seen in the past few years of mmorpg releases, you would think it would be hard to find takers of the lifetime sub.

But I'm sure there will be.

@xBludx I dunno, given the costs of recent MMO CE's, would you rather have a crappy plastic statue or a lifetime sub?

@Joaquin Crowe "Crappy" plastic statues or other physical items is why I buy a CE. Digital items or even lifetime sub is not interesting at all...

I don't understand why your comment is being voted down so drastically. You didn't attack anyone. You didn't make some wild claim with nothing to back it up. You simply stated a personal preference and did so in a way that made it clear it's YOUR personal preference (as opposed to claiming that everyone else shared your view).

I feel differently than you do -- most physical stuff in CE's ends up only being glanced at by me and then never comes out of its box again. But I'm not so insecure in my own preference that I feel the need to vote down someone's opposing preference.

Misinformed poster is misinformed...

Name five mmos that offered lifetime subs that are no longer running out of all that have offered.

1. Hellgate London
2-5. No others.

Lifetime subs games are all still running afaik... seems to be a pretty good deal cost benefit/loss wise for players.

@Joaquin Crowe crappy figurine for me please.. If the game sucks, I'll have something cool, if the game is great I'll have something worth money.

Life time sub is only good if the game is good, I'd hate to have a life time sub to a crap game.

@MrGrimord $250 for the lifetime sub. Show me the CE that costs $250 with a figure.

I have lifetime subs to LotRO, STO and CO, and I do not regret any of those purchases. Indeed, I am incredibly happy with them all (and I don't even play CO). The thing I like about lifetime subs is that I know I can play the game (with all the extra perks if it goes f2p) anytime I want without ever paying another dime. Since I tend to hop around mmos a fair amount, it just suits my playstyle. Plus, I do not have to be bothered with recurring credit card or PayPal payments, always a bonus.

Even CO - I do not play it, but I am sure I will get around to it someday and when I do, I will have all the vet rewards (if any), accumulated cash shop points, etc., and no worries about paying a sub.

Given my experience, plus a real interest in TSW, I will definitely be getting the lifetime sub.

@aurickle Massively needs to add a note in bold font at the top of the comment section: "Do not down-vote comments that you do not agree with. Down-vote comments that are in bad taste/are insulting/add nothing to the discussion."

Depends on where you live. Here in Brazil, most boxed games that include anything even marginally better than a manual often go for double or triple the US price.

SC2's CE did cost $275 in Brazil, and it didn't even have a figurine.
TOR CE was going here for between $350 and $400.

I would rather pick a digital-only, $250 "Grand Master Pack " with a lifetime sub, instead of a CE that is likely to cost $250 -$400 here.

FYI, Hellgate London is back.

But I actually see 'lifetime sub' and immediately think 'imminent failure'.

It's a red flag that says 'we predict box sales will be much lower than we need so please buy a lifetime sub' and also a fair indicator that the game will, if not actually shut down, go free-to-play or freemium relatively quickly.

Fair enough to those who like them and buy them but the only MMOs to have offered them to date have been very poor performers. That's a fact.

Wow if you go and look at the preorder options you can easily see the double dipping sub and cash shop is already making its debut.
