Japanese sandbox fans are saying domo arigato this morning as CCP and Nexon have officially launched a localized version of EVE Online in the land of the rising sun.
Japan boasts the world's fourth largest gaming community, and CCP has added it to an impressive list of conquests that include English-, Chinese-, Russian-, and German-speaking markets. The company is handling all of the game-related conversion tasks via its in-house localization system, while Nexon is responsible for various marketing and support initiatives.
CCP has also added a multilingual search tool to the EVE client. The new functionality "helps weld the disparate language groups present in EVE into a more global and unified game experience –- truly demonstrating the impact and value of the single shard server model," says senior producer Jon Lander.

Right now the Russians control a big chunk of Eve. It would be great if this made Eve's power struggle a whole lot more interesting.

Right now the russians control almost nothing. Once again, like in the past, they banded together to conquer enemy space, then started fighting themselves. But i see your point, who knows how 0.0 will be split among the powerblocks one year from now, after they settle in.

Is this available in Korea, too?

@Space Cobra
as a localized client? no, but those who wants to play from Korea can still use the English client as far as I know, just like the Japanese players did before CCP partnered with Nexon.

Am I the only one who wants to play on this server because it's a fresh start? I'd love to play on a server where there are no huge alliances already in place and everyone is just starting out.

You seem to have misunderstood the article. All CCP did was launch a new localized client and partnering up with Nexon, there are no new server, as the new Japanese client still connects to Tranquility.

The Chinese got their own server because of the Chinese government. Much like how global facebook isn't allowed in China, instead they have a Chinese version of facebook the government can monitor. The Chinese authorities did not want their citizens on global EVE where they can't watch them. Not that there isn't a way around that but the Chinese client is China only.
CCP has always wanted one game world, they created another server because its the cost of doing business in China. China wants their citizens away from rabble rousing westerners whose ideas may harm social harmony.

It amazes me why anyone would want to play a game where the devlopers CCP are so complicit in the cyber bulling . I don't think expansion to into new countries is what CCP should be concentrating on now . They should be looking at cleaning up thier act and making sure sanctions against extreme cases as we have just seen are far more effective and servere . I cant think of one other gaming company that would have mishandled recent events ( a months ban for what is actually a crime ) in the way they have. CCP are a disgrace .

They already took what they consider to be appropriate steps. If you deem that sufficient, then call them, email them, write them, hell, call your congressman if you want.
Or you can just keep yelling in these threads, which accomplishes nothing other than annoying other readers.
