@Quarlo

I request server numbers for the last 2 months, they wouldnt give them to citing they are, and i quote "secret", lol. That email is too funny.

I think the big thing is to hide the actuall sub numbers from the investors, but i also sent a letter to the next callout asking about this and will continue to do so, i love pressure, plus i have the free time to do it. When a comapny such as bioware tells me they have 1.7 mill and have stableized that magical number and i see the server i am on and check others, and do some quick math, things do not add up, definately not to 1.7 mill, actually nothing close to a mill either.

We will see, i know these devs are worried and hoping that 1.2 will bring them to the magic number they so often throw around, but i doubt it, and i will have to let my cancelled subdays simply die a slow death. Now to focus on other things....

@Graill440 You do know that people can be subed to a game and only play a few hours a week/month so would likly not even be noticed by trolls trying to prove the game is dead/dieing. Hell that WOW survey that massively reported on a year or so ago (not going to bother looking for it) suggested that a fair number of people remain subbed to a game even of they are not intending to play it for that month. Again people like that wont appear on the surver load screen all the time. ANd may not even play during peak times.

You're making things up. For every 10-hour casual, someone else is playing 30-hours. That's why MMO players average 20-25 hours a week.

Just like the last bit of fluff that Ohlen gave us a month or so ago. He said the average SWTOR player is playing between 20-30 hours a week...

So you got nothing but faries in the garden... BioWare themselves say the average player plays 20-30 hours a week...

And the servers spend 80% (or more) of thier time in 'light' status. And the SWTOR players are filling up thread-after-thread of 'sever merger' threads...

@(Unverified) I think I am going to believe a survey done on MMO gamers over some random internet guy. Bioware might have said that, and I agree at launch many people play a game alot. They normaly don't once its been out a few months. That seems to be the case with almost all MMOs.

And I was not talking about SWTOR specificaly.

Rift is a small company and doesn't have the corporate backing or cashflow SWTOR does. Apples and Oranges here.

I hate when ppl trip over themselves to drop oranges in my apple cart. The point is that as soon as a game starts offering free trials anymore, the doomsayers pop up screaming end of game and f2p. Please stay out of my orchard unless you're dealing with apples.

RIFT is a joke. That game is extremely boring. SWTOR's a million times better. Or at least 700,00 more according to the subs. ;)

ROFL, it has those numbers because of the IP. Star Wars pulls in people like crazy whether the product offered is good or bad. ROFL, again, apples to oranges. Amazing the sheer amount of blind loyalty to this IP these days.

Going F2P isn't saying "end of game". It's saying, stop charging for crap and either earn your monthly sub or change to F2P and stop gouging your customer base. I wish WoW would go F2P, too with how slow they are with content updates. Actually, every game should go B2P the way GW2 is set up.

OR, when we say F2P, we mean a hybrid, like what Lotro offers, where you can still sub for you subsciption or die pundits or you can play for free with options to buy points or earn them.

Neither WoW or SWTOR will be going F2P anytime soon. It's just not cost effective for them. As long as they get even 500,000 people to pay subs, they will continue to make a ton of money.

So telling them to go F2P now would be a terrible idea.

Actually you could have taken the Star Wars out of the game for me and made it any dgeneric sci-fi universe and I would have enjoyed it almost as much. I really like the fully voiced feature and the cinematic feel of it. I like the gameplay.

@Carolina
If they went with the industry standard 2 week demo instead of 7 days or weekends lots of people would finish the game during the trial period.

@Joaquin Crowe they can't really afford to do that until a couple of years down the track(if they still exist by then). As it is right now, with no level restrictions and 15 days to try, you can easily bring one character to 50 and finish the story. If you're a powergamer playing during the holiday season, you can easily bring multiple characters to 50.

Canceled already.

Decent single player game, horrible multiplayer game where your actions have absolutely no effect on the world around you. (You killed that guy? I let him live, oh well, difference dosent matter!)
