Pilots looking to duck the long arm of the law in high-security space will need to find another way to perform their nefarious deeds, as EVE Online released a patch today fixing the so-called "boomerang exploit."
CCP considered it an official and actionable game exploit to avoid CONCORD retaliation in high-security space by attacking a target right after the aggressor warps away or within the same grid in which the player earned a Global Criminal Countdown. Those who used the exploit prior to the fix could have found themselves dealing with a much scarier force than CONCORD: game masters themselves. Now, any player with a GCC will simply be unable to warp away.
Other than keeping boomerangs in the hands of kangaroos where they belong, Crucible patch 1.6.3 contains a few localization fixes, the ability to add a station as a waypoint or destination through the API, and some pesky client crashing issues.

I bet those "hard core" pvpers that one shot the carebears (so hard ass *sarcasm off*) and bounced around are crying tears of anger right now.

@Calfis
Good job.
I honestly don't really care about suicide gankers, etc, etc, but this was a HUGE problem for almost anyone that was in a ship that could be almost insta-popped by the Tornado.
Also, if you think that suicide ganking is pvp I feel sorry for you. Are you also one of those people who talk crap over local after you 10 v 1 someone at a bubble camp?

Actually I've only suicide ganked someone maybe 1 or 2 times. I don't think its elite pvp but really what is? PvP is PvP period, I think suicide ganking is a valid mechanic. My normal response to this on the EVE Forums would be "lolz high sec pvp" but ganking in high sec is a valid way to play the game.
Also no I don't bubble camp, I roam. Sometimes an unfortunate individual or few individuals from into our roam. They usually die, sometimes I may say something sometimes I may not. Depends on the moment and how the ganked individuals behave but hey thats just the nature of the game. If you want fair fights all the time then play some battlegrounds.

Wait, Justin is now reporting on EVE?
Oh, EVE better be on the list for the next "Choose My Adventure."
I want him on coms, in a Rifter, on a fleet roam in null sec.

@Wilhelm2451 Yeah it sucks that Brendan was giving real life threats to the point he was afraid for his life yet he has to apologize and gets a time out.
So.... Massively rolls over and CCP still won't do anything about the collection of Sociopaths known as Goonswarm.

@Bartlebe Yes, since I didn't even bring up Brendan, but was just prodding Justin, it isn't at all obvious that you have a pre-set agenda of your own here. Troll harder.

@Wilhelm2451 Just to clarify... Justin is one of our Senior Contributing Editors; they all write news posts. Brendan never covered all EVE or only EVE. :) Skim back through our EVE category and you'll see that all of our news writers cover EVE news stories, just like they do for all games. It's the EVE column that is (and will continue to be) sacred to Brendan.

I doubt Brendan was taken off EVE duties, Justin writes a lot of EVE stories here and there.

The text of the article makes zero sense to me.
So basically... if you attacked somebody after they ran away... you got banned?

No, the exploit was that certain ships were agile and powerful enough to get into warp before Concord ships scrambled them. Then they were able to "boomerang" around (one-shotting other ships if they planned well) until Concord eventually caught them.
So, the matter wasn't that Concord wouldn't attack them, they just got there too late.

Off topic,
I havent read anywhere Brendan getting real life threats. Now i will need to reread the other EVE posts.
If indeed he has it is no big step to get police involved and follow the very easy cyber trail back to the house it originated from, the defense "it wasnt me" at the computer doesnt work by the way kids., it is also no big step to implicate CCP, and i can assure you, they do not want this kind of heat if indeed it did happen.
The EVE community gets more pathetic each day with rumors like this, whether they are true or false. The EVE community needs to police themselves real fast or they will find with the new cyberbully laws and terroristic threat laws things will get real, very quickly.

@Graill440 Seeing the EVE community stereotyped like it has been these last few EVE posts is getting annoying. You can stereotype all you like about the Goons, but all of my corp mates and most of the others I met in game are mature, helpful players, more so than any other MMO I've played.
