Would you hedge your bets and go for a sandbox with a boundless amount of content? Would you pick something you've never played to minimize the been-there-done-that factor? Would you pick a classic themepark and set yourself to grinding up a thousand alts? You only get one, so choose carefully: What single MMO would you want handy if you were stranded on a desert island?
The Daily Grind: What MMO would you bring to the proverbial desert island?

So let's pretend you're stuck on a desert island. You're stocked up on snacks and sunblock. You've got a gaming rig and internet but no conceivable way of contacting anyone to come save you (work with me here). And let's pretend you managed to bring just one single MMO with you to this magical island that lets you play MMOs but not communicate the fact that you're stuck on, you know, a desert island.
Every morning, the Massively bloggers probe the minds of their readers with deep, thought-provoking questions about that most serious of topics: massively online gaming. We crave your opinions, so grab your caffeinated beverage of choice and chime in on today's Daily Grind!

Party Member 1 : "Okay, this part of this dungeon can be rough. We got to get our spells ready. Any questions?"
Party Member 2 : "No, but I got to go bio."
Party Member 1 : "That's sounds good, what about our mage."
Party Member 3 : "No bio, but I got to hunt a pig with my spear for lunch time and then set up the rain collector again, but I'll be back soon enough?"
Party Member 2 : "Murderer! Pigs are kind!"
Party Member 1 : "Ummm wha?!? I never heard that, where are you?"
Party Member 3 : "Oh, I am one of the fellows from Pan Am Flight 52 that got lost. I wound up on some island in Polynesia and I have NO WAY to contact the outside world, but I have this MMO I brought with me. In any event, I'll be back short;y. I really need that "Helmet of Saving Endurance +3!"
XD

Minecraft.
Although that's more just MO and not MMO, so if I had to pick a strict MMO I'd go with EVE. Always wanted to play it but never have because I don't have the time to dedicate to it. It'd be a perfect situation to start.

If I could download the mods and development tools, Minecraft too. I find it fun even when playing solo.
Otherwise, GW2 for me.

LOTRO - Making Alts and Skirmishing et al would not get as old as quickly as stuff in other MMOs I've played (WoW, Rift, SWTOR)

GW2. But, if I was A Genius, it would be Minecraft, so I could spend my days figuring out a way off the island.

@Nearly Departed Three months later, the lone survivor was found dead, having apparently injured himself trying to punch down a tree.

"Bear Grylls - The MMO" where you get to eat disgusting stuff to level yourself up and survive :)

Star Wars Galaxies vanilla (pre...everything). I could spend days in that game just trying to get the right crafting mats let alone all the other things.
If I HAVE to pick an active game in its current state right at this moment? Star Wars the Old Republic I guess since the above would disqualify Guild Wars 2.

I play a plethora of MMO's but if I were to have to play one longterm game and only that one game I'd probably have to go with WoW
