Good thing I got a lifetime sub. 500 SC per month, for "free" :)

This is more like it, the only thing missing is a free character slot when you max out.

The only thing that keeps PVE players subscribed is raid lockouts. Right now it takes 6 months to get a full set of T4 content. They did this on purpose because the next DLC is PVP related and the next raids will around in september. They are shooting themselves in the foot by letting everyone get a full set of T4 armor in 1 day versus slowly over 6 months.

The people in charge of DCUO are in all honesty, fucking stupid. I have been a consumer of this industry for two decades and I've never seen more bad decisions from one group of developers.

You are assuming that a person can level to 30 and and grind 40 hours of raiding plus Feat points in 24 hours,. And let us not ignore the $100 you have to drop to keep unlocking your raids. It it still going to take a week or 2, plus $100 to grind a full set of gear. People will do it but I will do it for free and arrive at the same finish line.

Also, the next DLC is in June.

The next DLC is pvp, in june. The next set of PVE additions to the game will occur 3 months after that.

You can get 14 T4 marks per week, do the math it lands at nearly the 6 month mark from the earth dlc release. This is designed to be enough content for people to keep PVE busy for the next 6 months until the next batch.

The whole 100hours 100 dollars etc argument has already been proven wrong on the forums. With each raid having speed feats at 15 or so minutes, a competent group can farm a FULL set of T4 gear in 1-2 days VERSUS the 6 months it is intended for.

No one is saying not to release these badges. All we are saying is that they should limit them for T4 raids... Only a genuinely stupid person would release this sort of game changing mechanic without any forms of checks and balance.

The next DLC is in june, but it's 100% pvp. The next PVE DLC is in september.

It's one thing to provide an incentive to subscribers. It's another to piss all over progression. It's one thing to let people do an extra few raids per lockout, it's another to add this sort of game changing mechanic without any form of checks and balance.

It takes a genuinely stupid person to implement this sort of change on top tier of progression without limiting it. The goal should be to get people to subscribe and keep them subscribed. NOT get your character 6 month's worth of equipment in a couple days and quit for 5 months.

DCUO went F2P in a YEAR! It was deemed not worth $15 a month or $10 a month if you had legendary. Most players are still on the f2p tier. And what's more...its FREE and people still think its not worth it. I really don't think we have to worry that a sizeable section of the population will drop $100 so they can grind this gear. This is nothing I'm losing sleep over.

SOE is after money and not if someone play for 6 months or 2 days.

Those ppl who get those gear in few days are spending money in store which correspond to amount they would need to spend on ~6 months of sub.

So for SOE it does not matter much.

Population is ok enough cause of f2p players , so they don't care if they get 100$ from 6 months sub or from spending 100 $ in two days in cash shop to get raid gear fast.

You have to unerstand that they don't care about your views and opinion about 'equality' , 'logic' and that if you're personally happy or not cause of what is in cash shop.

You still playing after all right?

They care about $. It is corporation not some person who will feel personally bad cause it's decisions make your game experience worse.

Once you understand that , then understanding their actions will be easier.

One of reasons why freemium (and many f2p) model is bad in my personal opinion.

@iseeit SOE would get more money from the 1-2 day T4 farmers, which even at 15 min represents a significant amount of time, than they would from a 6 month sub. Plus there are 4 T4 style sets to get, so for the truly obsessive (i.e. the people that would spend $100 for the privilege of doing the same 15 minute raid 30+ times in two days) there is still an enticement to keep playing after the first T4 set.
Personally, I think lock outs in MMOs are weird in the first place. I'm paying for the game, why not let me play it on my schedule? They aren't there for gameplay, they are there are a substitute for content that keeps some people subbed. Running Gates On April 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th isn't any materially different than running it on April 5th at 18:00, 18:30 19:00, and 19:30.

I'm glad I stopped playing this game, honestly. I got sick of waiting a day to go back in and do PvE, so much I started doing PvP. I wanted to do PvE and just grind, but no, they had an artificial lock-out in the game to try and extend their game. Pfft. Nice try folks, but, let me think about iiiiiiiiiiit... no. I really did love the game too, but because of these stupid lock-out systems, they never got a penny out of me (I was going to buy literally all of the DLC).

Ah well, whatever. Honestly, I'm starting to get sick of MMOs. It's either an ungodly grind, an ungodly lock-out to forcefully extend their shallow game, or both. This is coming from a guy who used to play PSO solo on his gamecube every single fracking day. Never had an artificial extender in it, yet I still loved it and played it to death. Then again, that would mean creating an enjoyable game, not trying to strangle money out of people.

You'll also note this is close to the system that Age of Conan and Everquest 2 use. Yeah... I'm not buying it. Glad I didn't waste more than a week on this game.

@smartstep ...I'm curious as to how you come to this conclusion since, as far as I know, there *is* no actual gear as such in the cash store, just styles, toys, account upgrades (DLC, storages), the portable crafting bench, and single-use out of combat items (the repair and bank-bots, Vault tickets, and escrow pulls). Unless you mean how the *new* change means that they can keep running the same raid over and over and over again (something not feasible for those of us with actual jobs and other responsibilities)?

@smartstep Ah, nevermind--you *were* talking about the cash-shop letting them repeat the raids more often.

Arrrrgh. Not more bloody *lockboxes*. That garbage is bad enough on STO, not to mention the game they're ripping it off of, TF2.

Also, why is the PS3 side getting another cash-store, when they already have the same one that the PC side does?

The least they could is more sensible things, like upping the currency cap for Premiums to 5000, and things like that. :-/

Well, these lockboxes drop in game only. Don't have to buy the from the store.

The ps3 is is run by SCEA. SOE has been having issues offereing PS3 players the same benefits as PC players. This in game store goes around SCEA so that the PS3 players can get the similar benefits as the PC players.

SCEA is the reason why I think DUST 514 is doomed.

If they upped the premium member's currency it wouldn't be P2W anymore. god knows we can't have Premium members getting access to the GOOD crafting/research now can we?

No, you don't buy the lockboxes from the store--you buy the *keys* required to *open* them from the store. :-/ At least they're not likely to have the system spam associated with the STO ones.
