Most of them were already available on youtube, but nice to see them here anyways.

Frankly gives you a good insight into why CCP is the leading company when it comes to MMO's.

Sure their games are not for you if you want the whole "singleplayer in a persistent world" experience of themeparks, but they're frankly the only AAA company that does any kind of innovation.

A CCP publicist couldn't have written this better themselves...

Wait, I bet this is part of CCP's "meta game" to push more good press while suppress their terribly public support of cyber bulling.

Just go here...

and here...

http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/03/27/eve-online-cyber-bully-issues-formal-apology-for-crossing-the/

to find out more about the game of EvE and what the developer CCP supports in their "triple A" title.

Reap what you sow.

@(Unverified) Supporting certain actions in a game doesn't take away the fact they keep a nearly decade old game looking top of the line, keep the game updated with content and new technology, and give it the love it deserves with yearly fanfests and such.

You call supporting cyber bulling love? Weird man but if it floats for you, so be it.

I'm not sure what your point is. People are mean to each other? Sure.

I guess some people would like CCP to act as your typical preschool teacher and laying down the law, and perhaps they would have if the guy hadn't stepped down from the chairman position before this CSM even took office due to the major community outcry.

So the bullying actually had consequences in EVE, unlike a similar event a few years back when people from the same somethingawful.com ruined an in game funeral event in world of warcraft.

But yes, people are mean, at least in EVE you can do something about it.

No one seem to remember what the EVE playerbase did in campaigns lead by CCP aimed at giving money to countries in troubles and charities. If I didn't know the nature of the internet posting I'd think that the actions of an individual had more weight than the actions of the whole community.

Your ability to compartmentalize the situation is quite remarkable.

The fact is CCP invited Alex as an honored guest speaker to a annual corporate event to "represent" their product. That says a lot about CCP's corporate culture which has a direct impact on the culture of the games they produce and support.

Are you trying to say that the attitudes demonstrated at Fanfest are any different than in the game?

Was Alex run off the stage with hostile shouts and "boos" as he deserved? Nope. He was treated with laughter and applause.

CCP didn't even feel the need to pull the live feed which was in their power and no one else.

There are certainly mean people in video games but not with the per capita numbers represented in EvE. And that is a direct reflection on CCP and no on else.

@(Unverified) The community in this game is no different than any other MMO. The point is that this game shows who is who while others will conceal it behind a hundred barriers. If you had ever played EvE and wasn't here just to troll you would realise that.

Have they got the bit where Alexander Gianturco used an official CCP platform to call for the in game harassment of someone with mental health issues with the express purpose of driving him to commit suicide, the bit that was publically broadcast as part of the CCP coverage of their official event. I wonder how the Sony Corporation is feeling about the lack of leadership from their new Partner CCP.

I think Ref may be asking, if these videos are "editted".

Or, "Can we see the Mitani incident in these videos linked here that are official CCP videos, or do we have to go to Youtube to see it?"

Don't bring that noise here please. Please.

1. Massively already covered it.
2. I hate the way Mittens acts sometimes, but he already apologized. And whether he meant it or not, I don't think there's any excuse for what he did but trying to continuous drag him AND CCP through the mud isn't helping anyone or anything.
3. CCP is looking into. I highly doubt that's *just* PR talk either since it's a serious event that seems to be gaining ground just days after fanfest and I doubt they want to end things on a bad note.
4. Have you people even seen the conversations people have had with The Wis lately? Dude seems completely cool. He may have issues but you people, yes YOU aren't doing ANYONE any favors by continuing to make this an issue.

Nothing is wrong with holding "people" (...I actually find Alexander Gianturco to be more closely associated with certain bags used for feminine hygiene than with people but whatever...) for their actions. Letting an issue to just quietly fade away does nothing towards fixing the problem. This happens so often in life and then people wonder why we see the same problems recurring time after time. If there is a problem you have to keep at tit till it is resolved.

Not an Eve player myself, I assume from your comment that Alexander Gianturco has been removed from the CSM by CCP in a belated act of leadership on the issue, oh no wait, silence.

Of course they have not removed him. They can't do that. Are you stupid or something? Or just have no idea what CSM or CCP is? What would be the point of a player elected body if the company can just remove who they don't like.

Also, to all the people who have no idea about the game and have not even seen the videos. Stop posting.

Eve is a game where you can do anything. You can harras people. Its not like other games where that would be a problem. In eve it is ok. But that is because people know this from the start. They know its a griefers game. They like that about it. And that is why we play it.

I don't see why every game should be exactly the same and cater to kids or whatever your definition of right and wrong is.

Someone decided to make one game where there are no limits. If you think that is wrong, we wont judge you. Just don't play the game.
But don't come playing the game complaining that one of the oldest games in the industry should be changed to how you like it.

Mittens did nothing wrong. They griefed someone (he wasn't even on the kill, other players from his alliance were), remember, griefing is allowed in this game, and then that person decided to go all real life about it.

He also never asked players to grief him until he commits suicide. It was blown up by this site and many like it because apparently this sells (we have made hundreds of posts about it) and they have no moral fiber.
He gave out his ingame name for players to go and kill him. There is nothing wrong with that. It's actually what eve is all about. People know his name (the mittani -alexander) and try to kill him all the time. In fact, his corpses will sell for a lot of money.
If you are mentally unstable, don't play a game that allows this kinds of things.
If you are mentally stable but don't like what this game allows. Then don't play it.
But why would you got and bitch about a game you don't play, and tell players that do play it, how they should play it. Can you not understand that we lake the fact you can scam, backstab, and fuck people over? It is the only game that allows this. Why do you think everything drops when you die.
There are different games out there for different people. Play the ones you like and leave us alone.

Now a bit more to the point. He did nothing wrong. He crossed no line. CCP knows this and they haven't told him to do aynthing. Yet that idiot decided to step down as chairman and just remain as a normal member of CSM. This is wrong. People gave gim 10k votes. The next person got 5k. People wanted him to represent them. Clearly. He will not be doing so. That is wrong. The CSM was created so that people would vote for who would represent their views ingame. They clearly think he is the man to do it. He will not be doing so. And do you know why? Because sites like this inflated this for numbers and you sheep went batshit insane over it. He realized he is giving CCP bad rep. And has offered to step down. He said that he cannot play the game he wants to play it, and be CSM chair, cause it would give CCP bad rep. So he is stepping down so that he can play the game he has played it untill now.

But this is wrong. This means that only people that play the game a certain way can have CSM representation. And that is not what CSM is about. CSM is a democratically elected body to represent players. And most wanted to be represented by him.

30 day ban, sacked from CSM6 chairmanship, sacked from CSM7, want to rethink your comment? Not a regular EvE player here, but just someone who separates his games from his life know an see when something is just wrong.
