I wonder how many current Eve players stay because of him.

I also wonder how many new players are put off by him and avoid Eve entirely.

Another glaring reminder of the problem with democracy. Those that vote are often the ones you wish would just stay home.

In dictatorships, more people die though.

This is what happens when people care more about the game than the community. People who follow Mittens are the reason he and his actions pop up. If people treated him like a social pariah, took a stand against lamers, and stopped interacting with him, we wouldn't see posts like this.

@wesmagyar

It's less about a guilt trip than one human attempting to push another off the deep end- it happens. Those folks probably aren't cut out for the world, but being the catalyst for emo-suicide's probably where the "evil" line starts (and I almost always disagree with politicians who use that word).

After reading so many posts on this site, it's quite apparent half of the posters have either never experienced death in any form besides the virtual and/or are so desensitized to the value of human life and death that it's disturbing.

I love the downvoting of posts that try show how egregious this is. Scamming and spamming in game is one thing, announcing a name, and encouraging people to harass someone for the sheer purpose of getting someone to kill themselves the same type of thing Charles Manson did.

I await the downvotes.

okay, now I know why the vid gnomes are hiding.
someone is going to have to tell the "king of Space" what an ass he is to his face.

This has nothing to do with Political Correctness, this about right and wrong, and I don't want to hear anything about "moral relativism". You, I, and everyone else knows that is way, way, over the line.

Also, considering that the Chairman of the CSM is the highest representative of the Eve Player-base, the office holder should carry some semblance of respect and dignity. Mittens utterly failed in that capacity, and as such he should resign... now!

I don't know if there were any 'minors' in the audience, or watching the live stream, but an earlier speaker flashing up the image of an erect penis penetrating a 'wormhole', at the end of his talk, also raises legal questions for CCP...

As CCP said, "Even though this panel was billed as unfiltered by CCP, we expect public presentations to be courteous and professional towards others."

So, okay, CCP didn't know in advance that this was going to happen, or that pro-suicide cyber-bullying would be advocated either --- but it didn't stop them re-broadcasting it again, in full, later that evening...

As I understand it the rebroadcasts were done automatically by a third party so it is possible that they couldn't reach the provider to stop them. They supposedly had a similar problem with a third party streaming provider before who was in a distant time zone.

@WolvenSpectre Very interesting comment...

If that proves to be the case then it certainly adds another dimension to it all.

It also begs the question of whether 'live'-stream events are really such a good idea - Not just for CCP, but for other gaming companies, too...

People can claim, as much as they like, that this is all being blown out of proportion, but if the 'worst case scenario' ever did occur, the ramifications could be huge.

@(Unverified) I watched the presentation live the guy was an idiot. he got scammed for being an idiot. then he went on a whole guilt trip tangent. thats all it was it happens all the time in Eve, there was nothing special about this incident. And all they are trying to do is make a big deal out of it. its retarded. The whole point in eve is blowing people up and kicking over their sand castles... plain and simple. get over it.

I am very tempted to suggest there should be a massive campaign of harassment and intimidation against Alex. As in, you know...becareful what you wish for. But I think it would be highly inappropriate if not illegal to do that. Plus I really don't want to ever to stoop that low. /shrug

This guy is the CSM chairman. Thus, he has responsibilities towards all EVE players. Joking about the behavior of an unknown player is one thing. Revealing the name of this player and encouraging others (in fact all others) to harass him is not acceptable, period.

He must be replaced in the CSM as he appears not to be legitimate in his function anymore.

@peyo01 No, he represents the people that voted for him, not the pubbie sperglords as a whole.
