Accents is one of my "bags of tricks" and it's pretty simple to pull off, but it can be awkward to bump into another character with the same accent (who is not a Scottish Dwarf) for me.

There are many ways I approach it and examples I can nab. One way is to deal with the text. There were these comics by Neil Gaiman related to his "Sandman" saga and in one, Delirium. I've seen a player "gO t0 sUcH iNtErEsTiNg eXtReMeS" to copy her mode of talking (but t'ain't easy!).

I've also done something along the lines of a "Living Robot" or a Mechalogical Entity" that could be akin to the "Order" side of DnD's Planescape and you can throw in some *whirrs* during a conversation of *clicks* and jazz those up a bit They don't even have to apply to robots and can be used, for example, bug-folks (Marvel's Micronauts comic had a character called, "Bug" that talked in such a manner).

Phoentically is cool in my book, too, as long as you don't overdo it and on every word or even every other word.
