Not at all happy about that news. For whatever reason, PunkBusters gives me nothing but trouble whenever I try to play online with it.

Makes playing Red Orchestra ranked servers a stress-raising experience for me.

@(Unverified) It is somewhat problematic but all of the fixes are out there and pretty easy to implement.

I am willing to bet that most of the problems are firewall related and could be remedied with some port forwarding to allow punkbuster to update itself without needing the tool.

The tool itself works great and is easy to use. But they do a horrible job of explaining what it is or why you would need it.

I haven't played a single player FPS in a long time, so I can't say much about Punkbuster. However, what I can say is that SOE's customer service dept. has always been helpful, polite, and pretty quick in SWG/EQII, so I would imagine that accidental bans, etc. will be dealt with in a reasonable amount of time. Planetside had some pretty awful cheating in it and SOE just does not want that to ruin the PS2 experience for everyone.
