I bought a computer to play everquest. He was in beta and I spent hours watching hijm play, had to save up tip money for almost two months. Oh to be 19 with no responsibility again.

@Riddled

Do ... you have dissociative identity disorder? You went from "I" to "he" back to "I," so either you meant to say "I bought a computer so my boyfriend could play everquest" or you're detached from the space-time continuum or you're crazy.

@DataShade Perhaps I'm just missing the sarcastic humor in your reply, but ease up dude. The only thing missing from Riddler's response is who 'he'/'him' is. Presumably it's a boyfriend, friend... I think we get the idea.

@(Unverified) The space-time thing was supposed to be a tip-off, yeah.

Silly article, any real gamer should have done this at one time in their life.

Snes > Chrono Trigger
N64 > Ocarina of Time
PlayStation > Final Fantasy 7
Xbox > Fable
PS3 > FF12+
PC > MMOs
Xbox 360 > Halo/Fable 2

Real fans don't need to buy a console last minute for one game, they research which console will have which game first and then buy accordingly. The ones with money get every consoles and lol at people who have to choose.

Wait you'd buy an xbox for Fable and not for Halo 1 and 2?
A PC for MMO's and not for any cRPG?!

touche - i bought a PS3 for (drum roll) Final Fantasy XIV. Ironic, aint it? It has since all but replaced my 360. The Wii still sees some use.

I bought a PS3 for Demon Souls after playing it for an entire afternoon at a friend's place.

I don't think so. These days games will run no problem on a computer that is 2-3 years old at any rate, and I have never been one to have to have all graphics set to max.

@avaloner

One of my PCs is 7 years old and it runs most of everything I play on high without much trouble (swtor/aion/vindictus/AoC).

It wasn't even an high end rig back then, I went with a geforce 9600gt which was a (very good) mid tier card with a 4.5 ghz cpu and 4 gigs of ram. Not once have I needed to upgrade it and aside from the latest Skyrim I have yet to come across something I can't run easilly.

People just tend to not do their research when they purchase computers, they go to best buy and eat up w/e the store clerk tells them... then 2 years later their pc either broke or isn't up to par anymore.

I pretty much bought the original Xbox because of Halo. I was following the development for awhile (when it was only a PC game).

When Microsoft bought Bungie I knew I was going to have to buy an Xbox. Still the other launch games were pretty awesome - PGR, JSRF - happy days

Exactly. :) I tend to buy a new higher end system every 2 to 3 years depending on what I can and can't upgrade. Or if I am really hyped up about a new game that I think I might want to replace all hardware for.

Currently more "new" hardware coming out is supporting PCIe vIII, so with that and the new 7970 AMD GPU's I'll want a new system to take the most advantage of improvements to graphical abilities.

Nope. There have to be at least three games I want before I'll put money down for the console - especially in a world with fewer and fewer platform exclusives.

@DataShade Totally with you on this one. Though I did buy a new XBox 360 when ME3 came out... but that was more because I was tired of deleting stuff off my original 360's tiny HDD. And the fact that it's whisper quiet now is a huge plus. So I'm not sure that counts. I did buy the new console, yes, but it was not exclusively for the one game.

Still, I feel a little dumb because I've got a perfectly good 360 still in another room... but now my wife can watch Netflix on it and stuff I suppose.
