He's the boogeyman whom battle-hardened soldiers fear and the guy whom Batman consults with on a daily basis. He's the Infiltrator, PlanetSide 2's sneaky assassin, and he won't stop coming for you until you are dead. Unless he gets lost. Planets are big.
SOE revealed the Infiltrator today as the game's stealth-user and long-distance sniper. Using advanced technology and camouflage systems, the Infiltrator can get to places that no other class can -- and do a lot of damage once there. Interestingly enough, while the Infiltrator lacks heavy armor, SOE does claim that the class' tactical advantages will prove to be just as protective as a titanium suit.
Infiltrators can use both sniper and scout rifles as well as pistols for close-quarter combat. The sniper rifle boasts the best range, while the scout rifle is better for mobile assault missions. It will, of course, be up to the player to decide whichever is the best to use in which situation.

These classes are always fun to play. I'm enjoying my Sniper in ToR right now and generally like scout classes like these.
I hope PS2 does a good job with their's as well.

I played an Infiltrator in Planetside. It was fun flying around averting radar in my mosquito then quietly dropping down, slip in stealthed, hack the door security, slip past the turrets and then hack the final terminal over our side. : )
In later patches the class became so over nerfed that stealth was easily defeated with a talent spec - they had heavy armor and weapons and then would sweep a room - quickly locate you and it was over.
Just like Daoc, trying to balance three sides did not work very well. I wonder how well it will work in this version?

Just as long as I get a shot gun pistol and the ability to hack vehicles that players leave unattended this new Planetside may not be that bad.
Nothing was more satisfying than hacking an enemy's mobile spawn point and driving off with it.

As long as there isn't some screen gamma adjustment that makes all stealthed infiltrators visible at 300 yards.

@Azurdane Matt Higby, the creative director has said that you won't even receive packets from cloaked players, effectively making them invisible.
