After 95 days of intense testing, ArcheAge has put an end to the game's fourth closed beta and is evaluating the results in preparation for the next round. XLGAME's Jake Song said to the press that over 2,000 pieces of feedback were gathered from the event and most all of them were directly addressed by the team.
ArcheAge's fourth closed beta test expanded the game significantly. Three land regions, four sea zones, siege warfare, pirates, an auction house, the Kraken, and the new Hariharan race were added for players to try out. The team also improved the look of the Ferre race and clarity during character creation. During the event, XLGAMES incorporated a Footprint system into the game that would "mark" a trespasser who attempted to steal another player's resources, such as cutting down trees.
One new feature was removed, however. The team had a combustible liquor barrel in the game but yanked it when griefers threw it into the middle of a wedding ceremony and killed everyone.
As the devs put a wrap on closed beta four, Jake Song says that they're hard at work preparing for the fifth test. Before that happens, however, the team will attempt to fix many of the bugs that popped up during the last test, improve client downloading speeds, and incorporate instant dungeons and housing improvements.

Anyone attending an mmo wedding deserves to be molotov cocktailed in game, no? Shame they removed it. Sounded fun.

I generally despise griefers for the juvenile delinquents they are, but as MMO wedding ceremonies are so utterly retarded, I must say I approve of this particular application. =D

Im a RPer.. I dont really have any opinion on in game weddings...
But whoever did this:
"a combustible liquor barrel in the game but yanked it when griefers threw it into the middle of a wedding ceremony and killed everyone."
I wish to shake there hands... That is just comical

I don't see why they would disable this? If player justice takes it's course, that murderer will become a pariah, the players will amass a community against his kind, people will be rezzed, wedding ceremonies will be more well-guarded and help in more hidden places.
What's more, that pariah will amass a group of more pariahs until you have two warring factions. This is just a wonderful seed for amazing MMO conflict!!
I'm all for Natural Selection in games, and less artificial limits imposed. Let the players create their world.

Why do I have the feeling that 2 years from now we'll be reading about "ArchAge CBT 23 is wrapping up, still no word on western publisher..."
I'm not knocking the game, mind you all. In fact this game offers more than ANYTHING any western developer is doing. Western developers only want to play games. They don't want to create worlds for their subscribers to live in.
Anyway, hope a western release is in the cards for this one...

This game gives me a strange Paradoxical feeling of uneasiness.
1. It seems to have EVERYTHING I've always wanted in an MMO.
2. It's Korean, a country rife with mass produced low-grade MMO's.
Call it stereotyping, but what was the last groundbreaking title that came out of there? Please prove me wrong, because ArcheAge seems to be my Holy Grail.

@(Unverified) I agree except for me #2 is all about the fact that they create these PvP-centric games full of griefing, reason I despise PvP games as a general rule, they -always- seem to be full of juvenile (not talking actual physical ages) gankers/spoliers.

Game looks great and promising as always.
XL Games refreshing stance - with no NDA , real community betas + showing exactly what they did / fixed is kinda great.
I hope some really good and caring publisher will bring it to western audience.
Also no f2p / freemium pls or at least option for pure p2p servers alongside but separate from f2p ones :/

You know, that "we removed the flaming barrel of explosive whiskey" thing is interesting from what we can interpret from it.
Why remove it? I don't like griefing either, but this game was shaping up to be a bit leaning *towards* such things. I wonder if this happened on the main (non-PvP) continent or the other PvP one? It does seem to say they take such things like that into consideration and want to control it. Not what I expected, but a bit more promising to me. I mean, that barrel could have been used at a gathering of any type, guild gathering or player-run activity/faire.

I agree...but it still feels wrong because it's made in Korea.... I guess I'll get over it. The proof is in the pudding after all.
